I spent a couple of hours on a rainy day recently wandering around the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. A great place to explore, and like most of the museums in DC, admission is free.
I was going to say - it's as if no one else was there apart from your good self. However, something is going on in the last photograph that I don't quite understand. Are there two visitors in the inner doorway?
I visited one of the art museums in Washington once years ago and remember being stunned to walk into a room full of paintings by one famous artist, it may have been Rembrandt.
I think the first photo where the man is copying a painting, that the copy is looking better than the original.
ReplyDeleteThe face is more elongated in the copy.
DeleteAn incredible space. Those are some gifted current painters, too. I wonder what their own original work is like.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is a professional portrait artist.
DeleteI got lost in the architecture of the space, but then watched the painters paint the paintings. I'd probably sit for hours just to watch them work.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great space.
DeleteIt's always been a lovely museum. And watching the artist recreate already existing works of art would be fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI love the artists working the galleries
DeleteBeautiful shots. I love seeing so many artists at work. The painting Rembrandt is especially good.
ReplyDeleteI should spend more time in the museums
DeleteYou are fortunate to have so many beautiful museums close to you.
ReplyDeleteIt is a strong reason to live here.
