Sunday Five: At The Beach

1: How close is the nearest place for you to swim?

2: Will you go into the ocean?

3: Have you seen a black sand beach?

4: Have you been to a clothing optional or nude beach?

5: Do you lay in the sun?

My answers:

1: How close if the nearest place for you to swim? Across the drive behind the building, the condo has indoor and outdoor pools.

2: Will you go into the ocean? Yes, but it has been a few years.

3: Have you seen a black sand beach? Yes in Iceland and the Canary Islands.

4: Have you been to a clothing optional or nude beach? Yes, the north end of Canaveral National Seashore in Florida.

5: Do you lay in the sun? Not really my thing any longer.

Please share your answers in the comments.

  1. 1. There an aquatic centre one kilometre away and a swimming beach two kilometres.
    2. Yes, I have many times but I am not keen to go into the ocean now.
    3. No, no black beach.
    4. Yes, but in speedos, not naked. I am not keen on public nudity. I don't like seeing extra special things all the time.
    5. Not now and I am paying the price for sunbathing when younger.

  2. 1: How close if the nearest place for you to swim? As the crow flies, about 200 metres, but we have to walk around the houses to access the beach via the footpath, so about 800 metres.
2: Will you go into the ocean? Yes, but only in summer - starting about mid-September, through to early April next year.
3: Have you seen a black sand beach? Yes, in New Zealand.
4: Have you been to a clothing optional or nude beach? Yes, but I wore a swimsuit.
5: Do you lay in the sun? Not now. I did in my misguided teenage years, but a fair skin is highly conducive to skin cancer, so now I only go out in the sun in the earlyish mornings, or late afternoons.

  10. The nearest beach is called "Rocky Point' which is in Mexico. Despite the drive many travel there regularly. I have never been.
I grew up in the Great Lakes; ocean swimming feels not right. Too salty to start with and there are tides and things. Count me out.

  11. 1. The nearest swimming hole is three minutes away. The kids have a pool.
    2. I will go in the ocean wherever the water is warm. It's not warm in these parts.
    3. I was close to a black sand beach in Hawaii. My health wouldn't allow me to make the walk.
    4. Clothing optional/nude beach? Yep, accidentally while visiting the Bahamas.
    5. I have never laid in the sun for no apparent reason. I did it to dry off after swimming, and then jumped back into the water. I never understood people who went to the beach to just lay in the sun and bake.

    4. Nope, although in San Remo, Italy, I saw several ladies topless at the beach.
    5. No, too many skin cancers removed to try that. Though I do enjoy sitting outside for a short time on a sunny day. But I'm fully clothed doing that.
