Gullfoss is a massive waterfall, about 6 miles north of Geysir. We had been there for a few minutes in 2022, part of the plan for 2023 was to have all of the time we wanted. What I was not expecting was the ice around the edges this time.
Wow...breathtaking! It's those unexpected finds that add to the adventure. Maybe another trip in warmer weather so you can spend all the time you want at the waterfall?
Wow. Wow. Wow!
ReplyDeleteKinda neat
DeleteStunning Mother Earth!!!! And yes, if cold enough I wouldn't have thought of the plumes of mist freezing on surfaces....yikes.
ReplyDeleteIt was cold enough
DeleteGorgeous. I see the ice, but the color of the water looks warm ... though I wouldn't go in .
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit icy
DeleteI hope no one was tempted to go near that icy edge. Those flimsy rope guards don't really discourage thrill seekers.
ReplyDeleteNot a strong health and safety culture, and it is 90 minutes to the nearest medical facility

ReplyDeleteThe snow prevented us from seeing another set of falls you can walk behind.
DeleteA great set of photos of an extraordinary place. Just think, that water is gushing right this very moment.
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across a live stream the other day and didn't book mark it.
