Travel Tuesday: Gullfoss Photo Dump

Gullfoss is a massive waterfall, about 6 miles north of Geysir.  We had been there for a few minutes in 2022, part of the plan for 2023 was to have all of the time we wanted. What I was not expecting was the ice around the edges this time.

  1. Stunning Mother Earth!!!! And yes, if cold enough I wouldn't have thought of the plumes of mist freezing on surfaces....yikes.

  2. Gorgeous. I see the ice, but the color of the water looks warm ... though I wouldn't go in .

  3. I hope no one was tempted to go near that icy edge. Those flimsy rope guards don't really discourage thrill seekers.

    1. Not a strong health and safety culture, and it is 90 minutes to the nearest medical facility

  4. Wow...breathtaking! It's those unexpected finds that add to the adventure. Maybe another trip in warmer weather so you can spend all the time you want at the waterfall?

    1. The snow prevented us from seeing another set of falls you can walk behind.

  5. A great set of photos of an extraordinary place. Just think, that water is gushing right this very moment.

    1. I stumbled across a live stream the other day and didn't book mark it.
