I feel I should really want to visit San Francisco, with its huge gay population, gay history, trams (street cars) and good public transport, but I have never had the urge. Today I heard of a semi permanent population of homeless on the streets who have no chance at any housing. While we never had problems entering the US from Canada as Australians, we constantly hear nightmare airport immigration stories for so many people from everywhere, including Australians. But I must say, your photos are lovely and it does look such an attractive place.
San Francisco is hands down my favorite city outside of New York and Philly! Before the pandemic I have been out 8 or 9 years in a row to visit my friend Kim.
Why did you leave your heart in San Francisco? Did you have a transplant? Great set of pictures of a city I felt strangely at home in when we paid SF a visit back in 2005.
I'll add my thanks too! Tony Bennett was a true gentleman. A gentleman with a great talent. I met him once. He was staying at the Arizona Biltmore hotel and was sitting in the bar all by himself. I said hello, he was gracious with a big smile.
I have wanted to return for some time. I remember it being a fun town for tourists. I hear tell today it is sort of a hellhole of ultra-rich and street have-nots.
About 16 years ago, I interviewed for a job, with an office on Market Street and a salary high enough to be able to afford to live there (more than I am making now.). Alas it was not to be. I will go back.
Thanks for these! I lived there for 17 years and I miss it from time to time. The skyline has really changed since then.
ReplyDeleteThe evening ferry from was a great way to see the city
DeleteThe skyline has changed so much since we left in 2000, but always a spectacular city.
ReplyDeleteA lot of big buildings

It is a pretty city. Housing is extremely expensive.

It is an easy city to fall in love with
DeleteAh! The other city with a leaning tower. Such a sweet place!
ReplyDeleteBuilt in memory of a loving husband
DeleteOh the leaning condo building . . . some days I need to stop and think.
DeleteMy old stomping grounds and quite possibly my favorite city ever. Thanks for the photos.
ReplyDeleteI was randomly strolling through the archive

ReplyDeleteA story I heard, was that he was reviewing new music at a bar, and the bartender said, if you will record "I left my Heart" I will buy the first copy.
