I have to admit, it has been hard finding music, to express my feeling on Independence Day here in the United States this year. Politics have been painful made worse by a politically packed Supreme Court. I thought about posting God Save the Queen. May we have more to feel good about this time next year.
I don't know when my faith will ever return. And have mixed feeling about the Fourth. But I must remember, our country deserves our Patriotism. The government and politicians MUST EARN IT.
ReplyDeleteWe do need to vote this year
DeleteMaybe Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA?
ReplyDeleteI need to listen the words on that one
DeleteFor starters:
DeleteBorn down in a dead man's town
And the first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
'Til you spend half your life just to cover up
I just do not understand why a certain element in your country take no notice of world opinion. Five plus years ago it began to go terribly wrong and even with a new leader who is a decent person for a politician, it is still so bad.
ReplyDeleteTom Jones is a great performer.
When we were in Ireland in March of 2020, there were posters up for an upcoming Tom Jones performance - he is older than I am. I bet he still puts on a good show.
DeleteI will listen to Tom sing, and envision him in those tight polyester slacks of yesteryear while I do so.
ReplyDeleteI remain patriotic, but I need to see those elected officials step up ... or step out.
"It's not unusual" to have those visions
DeleteOnwards and upwards!
ReplyDeleteInto the future
DeleteI couldn't agree more! It is getting harder and harder to feel patriotic.
ReplyDeleteenough of us feel that way, we can change it
Delete"Hold on" from "The Secret Garden"
ReplyDeleteAh modern music
DeleteThere are no songs that I'm aware of that could adequately express how I feel about the state of the US.
