The Sunday Five: Where Are You From?

A couple of weeks ago I rambled on about where I am from and where I am, and that inspires today's Sunday Five.

1: How far from where you were born, do you live today?

2: Would you move back to your "hometown?"

3: Did you choose to live where you live, or did love or opportunity land you there?

4: Are you where you would like to spend the next decade?

5: Are there places you have lived, that you would never return to?

My answers:

1: How far from where you were born, do you live today? About 600 miles

2: Would you move back to your "hometown?" No.

3: Did you choose to live where you live, or did love or opportunity land you there? I choose this one, I decide where I wanted to be, then found the job to make that possible.

4: Are you where you would like to spend the next decade? Yes.

5: Are there places you have lived, that you would never return to? A couple of them.

Please share your answers in the comments.

  2. 1: How far from where you were born, do you live today? According to Google Maps, I am 2782 km (1728 miles) as the crow flies from where I was born. (Born in New Zealand, living in Australia).

2: Would you move back to your "hometown?" No, Australia is home.

3: Did you choose to live where you live, or did love or opportunity land you there? My husband and I chose to live by the beach (retired).

4: Are you where you would like to spend the next decade? No, we will need to move into a smaller place when we can no longer look after our big garden.

5: Are there places you have lived, that you would never return to? Absolutely - some horror spots - where I was obliged to live by my employer. Thankfully those days are over.

    1. Great to hear from a new voice. We moved to a condo, no garden, and we love it.

  3. 1. About 15 km from where I was born and 10 km from the family home.
    2. No, no and no.
    3. We chose where we now live, as we have over forty years.
    4. Me yes. My partner is more wanderlust.
    5. I would not want to again live in an outer area where we briefly lived or the couple of decades when we lived in ever such a nice middle class areas in two different houses. In fact none of the five former houses we lived in.

    1. Interesting that you are close to where you were born, and wouldn't move back.

  4. 1. About 10 miles from where I am now. But I was born there, we never lived right there.
    2. No. It's pretty, but it's not for me. It wasn't when I grew up there. Everyone LOVES it there, but I haven't been back since my parents died.
    3. Had no intention of moving back to NE Ohio. My now husband got a job and had the choice of Cleveland or Syracuse. We picked Cleveland.
    4. Where we live is extremely diverse, which we love. But a decade from now will see us both retired. We don't have a location plan for that as of yet.
    5. No. I wasn't supposed to be back in the 216, so never say never

2: Would you move back to your "hometown?" No.
3: Did you choose to live where you live, or did love or opportunity land you there? This is where I lived for many years before going to college. I moved back after graduation, got a good job, waited for my fiance to finish his college education, and then we were going to move out West. He got a good job offer in my town and we have been here forever.
4: Are you where you would like to spend the next decade? Yes...with lots of travel planned.
5: Are there places you have lived, that you would never return to? I have lived in many places and have visited them to see where I came from.

    1. Too old for Boys town maybe, but Chicago is a neat city to grow old in (if you can tolerate the winters)
