A Couple of Hours or All Day

Back in late March I added a couple of days onto a trip to the west coast and rented a car to explore the coast.  I kept asking people about travel along the coast, things like how long will it take to drive from San Francisco to Pebble Beach.  I kept getting answers about the fastest way, 90 minutes by expressway if the traffic is moving (it is about 100 miles.) I kept trying to explain that I wanted to take the slow road along the coast, I just wanted to be sure that I would have plenty of time for a leisurely drive.  I found no one who had taken all day, to drive what can be done in a couple of hours or less.  I did, stopping along the way every time I wanted to.  I am so glad I did, I saw so much.

We rush through life, taking the most efficient route, because we can.  Sometimes we need to take the least efficient route, because we can.

When was the last time you took the slow route? (If you can't remember, it has been too long.)

  1. I almost always take the slow route.

  2. as often as I can. the slow route has more to see/experience. that's why I like train travel.

  3. It's the slow route here whenever you take the freeway! The Bay Area, folks! My best friend moved back to Delanson, NY, because she didn't want to have to take a helicopter to work.
Now scenic routes are another thing. We decide to take the Pacific Coast Highway to get back from San Diego one year. The ocean is beautiful and it was a very nice ride until the accident miles ahead. Two way highway with no place to turn off. Miles and miles of crawling cars. The ocean ain't so beautiful if you have a full bladder and no place to pee! Balder Half relieved himself into a soda bottle. I tried not to cry when the helicopters finally left and we made our way to a McDonald's. Best pee of my life!
Men's body parts may be more vulnerable to outside attacks, but they can go to so many places that women's can't. I envy that :)
    Did I answer the question?

    1. Asked and answered, I am in SF for a meeting this week.

  4. We quite often take the long way. Or we turn off t explore and road that sparks our interest.
