TBT - London May 1990
In the spring of 1990, I was riding a wave of success. I was well paid, working insane hours for a self described lunatic. My Grandmother was born in London and we had -had a couple of visits from distant family in England, so going to London was the wild hair that I decided on one morning in a long - over air conditioned staff meeting in Orlando. I booked an air and hotel package through British Airways. Our flight from Orlando to London was delayed from 11:00 PM to 5 AM by a mechanical breakdown. Being a typical American who had never traveled outside of North America, I rented a car and drove into London. I have driven around the circle in front of Buckingham Palace. No flag is flying, the other Queen must have been out of town that day.
It was a good trip, I am so glad I went. It broadened my horizons, and helped me to understand the wonders of travel. It was the first of many trips, and a few left to go.
