Sunday Five: End of the Year Contemplations 12


 A dear friend and former blogger, posted this on FB as a solstice posting. 

1: What was unknown to you a year ago? 

2: What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? 

3: What would like to accomplish in the next year? 

4: What do you need to learn to be more confident? 

5: Where do you go to find time for reflection? 

My Answers 

1: What was unknown to you a year ago? That there was a health insurance benefit with an old pension plan. 

2: What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? To let the next generation lead boldly. 

3: What would like to accomplish in the next year?  A successful transition to retirement. 

4: What do you need to learn to be more confident? How to be more involved in my community. 

5: Where do you go to find time for reflection? Long walks alone with no music or interruptions.

  1. What was unknown to you a year ago? Just how fabulous the Italian Rivera is!!!

    What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? Delegate work and stop trying to do everything little thing myself to my specifications.

    What would like to accomplish in the next year? Finally get to Nairobi? And try to stop get angry and worried over things out of my control.

    What do you need to learn to be more confident? Keep living right. Whatever Im doing now keeps me confident.

    Where do you go to find time for reflection? Either a nice walk, or to the bedroom and read a nice book.

    A nice Christmas Eve day to us all.

  2. 1: What was unknown to you a year ago? My two brand new grandchildren
    2: What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? Sometimes DIY jobs require experts. I cannot do everything.
    3: What would like to accomplish in the next year? Get our old decking fixed by an expert and arrange a big family holiday by the Mediterranean in a rented villa.
    4: What do you need to learn to be more confident? Remember to zip up my flyhole. Perhaps I should fix a discreet personal alarm to it.
    5: Where do you go to find time for reflection? Walking in the countryside.

  3. 1: What was unknown to you a year ago? That Tuxedo would leave us so quickly; he was so much a part of our little family and it still hurts.

    2: What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? To let go, sometimes, and let someone else "drive." Though not Carlos and the car.

    3: What would like to accomplish in the next year? Moving forward, breathing, living, loving, my own sense of peace if I can';t find it in the world.

    4: What do you need to learn to be more confident? Patience. Relax at times. Listen.

    5: Where do you go to find time for reflection? Walking through town, or in the country, along the river; solitude.

  4. 1: What was unknown to you a year ago? If I'd make another trip to London or not. I'm glad I did.
    2: What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? Don't put things off.
    3: What would like to accomplish in the next year? Another trip either to England or somewhere else.
    4: What do you need to learn to be more confident? My age-related limits.
    5: Where do you go to find time for reflection? Desert Botanical Garden or somewhere else for long walks.

  5. 1. That i could actually run a marathon. Who knew?
    2. Mental health is as important as physical health.
    3. Find something meaningful to do.
    4. Keep myself open to new ideas and limit my "no"s .
    5. Driving, I think.

    2: What is the most important lesson you have learned in the past year? Good question! That I could go slow and do OK.

    3: What would like to accomplish in the next year? Weight loss

    4: What do you need to learn to be more confident? Keep focused when wound up.

    5: Where do you go to find time for reflection? Every night when I stretch, journal, and read.
