16 years ago today, Travel Penguin posted the first post on this blog. Over the years I have posted about 3250 posts, and received over 22,000 comments. I have made some wonderful friends through blogging. Some are still blogging, some are not. The statistics show that there are about 15 readers for every person that comments. There have been about 611,000 page views.
I continue to enjoy blogging. I love sharing photos. Writing for the blog has improved my writing, and made me more comfortable writing. I do this for me, I do hope that you all enjoy it.
I plan to continue to do this. I hope you continue to read. I hope you continue to comment.
At times it is a struggle. At times, you read posts put together in haste, wonderfully enough some of those have proved popular.
As my regular readers have read before, I generally prepare posts ahead of time, and schedule them to post. I spend 3 or 4 hours each weekend creating content. As one of my college professors who was living off of a large trust fund put it, "every man needs a hobby!"(his was a barn full of classic luxury cars.)
Thank you for being here. Please keep coming back. With luck I can do this for another 16 years.

DeleteYou certainly are relentless! Contrary to semi-popular belief, I am not interesting enough to write a blog. Also, lazy.
DeleteMy hot water heater got fixed last week. Three weeks of hauling boiling water from the stove for washing dishes and me, got to be a little tedious. That first shampooing, orgasmic and I wasn't using the brand that causes that, according to commercials. One should never take for granted hot water on one's backside. I have learned, and am humbled.
Deedles glad to hear things are back to normal for you, three weeks, I'd have been looking for a Hilton.
DeleteHappy Anniversary!!!! Where does the time go I wonder? I think I'm out 14 years now...I missed my anniversary ...again. Last I knew I was over 3 mill hits, pushing 4, 600 post and I have no idea how many comments. I think, who reads this stuff???? Keep going, I'll read. Even though Im grossly behind...but a break is always mind clearing and healthy, at least for me.

DeleteIsn't it weird how a post you spend a lot of time composing receives much less interest than something dashed off in a few minutes. Are you affected by the NYC flooding? Happy blogaversary. Well done that boy.
ReplyDeleteFun, pretty or funny sells, sometime we need to write things that are more serious. The storm moved by further west than us, we had a couple of inches of rain, parts of NYC and NJ had 11 inches in just a few hours. Thanks for asking.
