Political Post - I am Appalled By The Election Results

I am writing this mid-afternoon on Wednesday.  Votes are still being counted, the outcome of the election is uncertain, but, I am appalled by the election results.

No matter who wins I am appalled that 68.5-million Americans voted for a proven liar, hypocrite,  misogynist, racist, homophobe, cheat, failure, I could go on with more adjectives to describe he-who-must-not-be-named.

It has been four years, they know who and what they have voted for.  A man who has refused to denounce racists.  A man who calls any news he does not agree with as "false news."  A man who assesses the worth of a woman based on her looks.  A man who has been accused dozens of times of sexual assault.  A man who  denied science, leading the death of over 230,000 people.

I really thought over the past year, we were making progress as a country in recognizing the ingrained racism in our society.  And yet 68.5-million people voted for a man who puts children in cages based on where they were born.  A man who campaigned that suburban women should love him, because he saved the suburbs from low-income housing (actually income based housing.) This is doublespeak, for his efforts to push lower income black and hispanic families into ghettos. Nearly half of voters are apparently okay with him being a racist.  Perhaps he refused to denounce racists because he knows who his voters are, but a real leader, would have stood up and said, "it is time to move beyond our racist past, to recognize the worth of every person, to offer every person an equal chance, to respect everyone, to not allow the police to be racists murders. But he is not a real leader.

As a nation we have a lot of work to do.

  1. So Blobby had this on his blog. "With or without BLOTUS at the helm, this is who we are. We've been unveiled as a country of hate. And to be fair, the haters have made me hate. It's not pretty and I'm not proud of it - but it just is." And I agree. I hold my tongue to much. If it's a bitch they want I'll give it them.

My dad used to call democrats milky toast. He said their too nice. While I don't agree completely, I do think we have to stop being as nice and get more backbone. Especially if 50% of the country sides with this asshole. These people will already be instilling these values on to their next generation....and the vicious cycle of un-equality and racism will continue and we, yet again, will have learned nothing...after how many years and years???

For me....It's time to put Snow White away and bring back Maleficent.

Wonderfully written. Regardless of who wins, it is such a disappointing result. I can understand those who felt disenfranchised voting for him the first time, but this time after he has been so thoroughly exposed for what he is? Really? I feel so awful for the decent people of the Divided States of America. It is good that Biden is conducting himself with good grace and dignity.

    1. The good people need to stand up and be heard.

  3. Good thoughts indeed. The change will have to start with "the man in the mirror."

    1. I can speak out for what is right and fair, against those who are small-minded and selfish.

  4. Amen. It's frightening to know who we really are as a country.

    1. I figured maybe HWMNBN might draw 1/3 of the vote.

  5. What needs to be done is to call out this racist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-immigrant, bigoted hate speech when you hear it. Shut it down, and if you have to cut those people out of your lives, do it.

Also, ask people who say they voted for him because they liked his policies--whatever those were--how they could overlook the fact that he a racist, xenophobic,, anti-LGBTQ+, putting children in cages, calling BLM "thugs" while calling armed men who stormed state capitals because they wanted their bars reopened, "patriots" and said some white supremacists were "good people."

If they hear all that, and let's be clear, we have all literally heard him say those things, and still supported him, then they have no problem with racist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-immigrant, bigoted hate speech.

As I have said, not ALL _____ supporters are racist, but ALL racists are _____ supporters, and anyone who can overlook that and still support him, needs to take a good long look at themselves.

  7. I couldn't agree more. In fact, I'm having doubts that our nation can be saved. Biden might have won but there was no mandate and he still has to deal with Mitch M. I'm not sure what he can accomplish under those circumstances.

  8. You're absolutely right. Everyone loses when half the population can turn a blind eye to such beliefs and behaviours.
