I am always surprised by people rushing down the aisle to the airplane toilet 10 minutes after the plane takes off. Let's face it, airplane toilets are unpleasant, tiny, cramped, often smelly, not terribly clean. Think ahead, plan ahead, and go before you board.
I am a little OCD on this one, I will probably go twice in the half hour before boarding a plane, just to be sure. And I don't drink gallons of liquids just before boarding.
If you can sit through a movie, without running to the toilet, you can sit through the average airline flight.
Avoiding the airplane toilet will improve you travel experience.
I do agree with you, but aside from the plane in 1989 carrying Vietnamese refugees to Australia where we were told by staff to avoid the rear of the plane toilets, I've found them pretty well always clean and without odour.
ReplyDeleteThey are certainly not the worst toilets I've had to use.
When the flight attendants say, don't go there, it is dire.
DeleteI have very rarely visited an aeroplane toilet. Like you, I plan ahead. Go to the toilet before boarding and drink in moderation - never anything alcoholic for me. I can easily go five or six hours without visiting a toilet.
ReplyDeleteLondon to New York is only about 6 hours.
DeleteI almost never use the toilet on an airplane. I can do my business before and after, even on a long flight.
ReplyDeleteSensible man
DeleteI'm at the age now where I understand the wisdom of the old saying "Never pass up an opportunity to pee."
ReplyDeleteDelta configured their A320's in a way that produced bathrooms so narrow you quite literally have to walk into them backwards.
ReplyDeleteAnother good reason to try to avoid them.
DeleteYes, I'm, on team take care of your "business" before boarding the plane!
ReplyDeleteA sign of your wisdom.
DeleteLOL...this is a great tip that I can share as sound advice.
ReplyDeleteIf we improve the life of one traveler, we have made the world a better place.
DeleteBuy But But....I didn't have to go then.
ReplyDeleteI bet you did.
DeleteI reserved an aisle seat on my last flights so I can get up without bothering anyone else. When you are a 74 year old women, you may have to go more often than you think, David! ;)
ReplyDeleteI understand that, but 10 minutes into a flight
