The Saturday Morning Post - Details Around Us

I was out walking one morning recently, the weather was hot and muggy, the birds were either perched in the shade, or hunting, the light was flat. The kind of a morning, when there isn't much to photograph.  Then I noticed the textures in the bark on the trees.  This is just two of probably twenty trees that caught my eye that morning.  The details around me caught my eye that morning.

A few days later, I was walking across DC, a little over a mile from Gallery Place to my office.  I needed to get in my daily walk, and I hadn't seen much of the city in well over a year.  Details large and small caught my eye.

These are places I have walked hundreds of times, and missed seeing what was there in plain sight. We become so accustomed to our surroundings that we miss seeing them. See the world with fresh eyes, often beauty is in the details right in front of us.

  1. The beautiful is definitely in the details. Love these all. I wouldn’t even have known that second shot was tree bark.

  2. It's nice to take a minute and just look around, because you could be surprised at what you see. The bark looks beautiful, and the side of that building, too.

Tree bark can be so beautiful and few of us take much notice.
