I wrote a couple of deep thinking Sunday posts, too much thinking for the hot dog days of summer. So I will move one on down the calendar. And try something easier today.
1: Do you have a dog?
2: Did you grow up with dogs?
3: Have you ever been bitten by a dog?
4: Given the choice of a large dog or a tiny dog, which for you?
5: Are there bad dogs, or just untrained owners?
My answers:
1: Do you have a dog? No, I can't see either of us following a dog around with a plastic bag on our hand.
2: Did you grow up with dogs? Outdoor hunting dogs.
3: Have you ever been bitten by a dog? No.
4: Given the choice of a large dog or a tiny dog, which for you? Tiny, something older and mello.
5: Are there bad dogs, or just untrained owners? I think the owners are usually the problem for ill behaved dogs.
Please share your answers in the comments.
1. No, but we had two.
ReplyDelete2. Yes.
3. Twice, both my fault. I went near a stray while he was eating when I was about eight. The other was our puppy who grew too big to get through the cat flap and was stuck and in a panic.
4. Small enough to not swipe things off a coffee table with its tail.
5. Mostly owners, although some breeds have very strong instincts.
I had never thought of things disappearing from low tables.
Delete1. Yes.
ReplyDelete2. Yes.
3. No.
4. These days, on the smaller side, but not tiny.
5. I suppose there are some, but I think it's mostly bad (or untrained) owners. BTW, I took one of my dogs to puppy school (three dogs ago). The trainer told us that he was essentially training us humans, not the dogs.
I can name at least two of your's
Delete1: Do you have a dog? No
ReplyDelete2: Did you grow up with dogs? No. Had a puppy for perhaps a month. My mother told us the original owners wanted her back. I found out more than 30 years later that wasn’t true. She just hated animals.
3: Have you ever been bitten by a dog? No.
4: Given the choice of a large dog or a tiny dog, which for you? Not tiny and not enormous. But I prefer them big enough to hug and roughhouse with.
5: Are there bad dogs, or just untrained owners? It’s more the owners than the dogs, but I think there ARE some dogs, like people, that have their own serious issues.
One would need to be careful about hugging a Yorkie,
Delete1. I don't have a dog at this time.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, I can't remember a time when the family didn't have a dog.
3. No, I don't think so.
4. Anywhere from middle sized to large. Growing up I had a St. Bernard once and I do love Golden Retrievers.
5. In most cases, I would say it's the owner but my dad did have one dog that was totally unpredictable.
Golden's are lovable.
Delete1. No, no dog.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, we had boxer dogs.
3. No, never been bitten.
4. Neither, a dog requires too much work and caregiving for me.
5. Owners are usually to blame but I do think some dogs are specially bred for viciousness.
Dogs do take a lot of work and attention
Delete1. Yes, there IS a dog. He rules around here.
ReplyDelete2. Two growing up. A third after I was in college, but that was my dad's dog / favorite child.
3. Yes, but all have probably been my fault.
4. Medium to large. I can do small, but only to a degree.
5. 90% is an owner issue, I believe. There are, of course, bad dogs, but given the chance, most are trainable.
As I recall, someone gave up on your current sweetie-dog
Delete1. Yes, I have a dog. His name is Murphy and he is a goldendoodle.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, I grew up with dogs. Two german shepherds.
3. I was bitten once by a terrier.
4. I like dogs that are medium to large. Murphy is really a big dog, the biggest one that I've ever owned. But he is the gentlest dog I've ever owned too.
5. I think dogs are like people. They have different personalities. I do believe that the owners do play a part in how they behave though.
My sister has a German Shepard who is a gentle giant.
Delete1. Yes, I have two dogs. A Maltese and a bichonpoo (okay mutt).
ReplyDelete2. I don't remember not having a dog or two or three. All mutts.
3. Does nipping count? Ya gotta pay attention if the mutt's eating.
4. At my age, I prefer small, not necessarily tiny. I love big dogs though.
5. I do believe there are some dogs that are bad because of overbreeding and such. Growing up, all of our dogs were untrained but still well behaved in the sense that none of them ever attacked anyone.
"Ya gotta pay attention if the mutt's eating." I know some people like that!
Delete1: Do you have a dog? Ozzo, the cross between a Black Lab and a Dachshund!
ReplyDelete2: Did you grow up with dogs? Yes. Mostly German Shepherds.
3: Have you ever been bitten by a dog? Nipped, not really a bite.
4: Given the choice of a large dog or a tiny dog, which for you? I prefer medium, but would take large over small any day!
5: Are there bad dogs, or just untrained owners? Bad owenrs, always.
1: Do you have a dog? Yes. A Doberman.
ReplyDelete2: Did you grow up with dogs? Yes.
3: Have you ever been bitten by a dog? Yes.
4: Given the choice of a large dog or a tiny dog, which for you? Large.
5: Are there bad dogs, or just untrained owners? Both.
ogs, or just untrained owners? I think the owners are usually the problem for ill behaved dogs.
