The Sunday Five - the last quarter of 2021

It is the beginning of the 4th quarter of 2021, my management training says it is time to double check on progress. How are we doing on what we planned to do this year.  Hence this weeks Sunday five.

1: How many books have you read this year and how does that compare to what you had planned?

2: How are you doing on staying active this year?

3: Have you learned anything new this year?

4: Are you staying in touch with family and friends as you had hoped this year?

5: How are you doing on blogging, writing, reading or commenting?

My answers:

1: How many books have you read this year and how does that compare to what you had planned? My goal was 24 books, I have finished 48 so far.

2: How are you doing on staying active this year? I did really well, until I returned to the office.  Office days I find it harder to make time, and the gym is still scary, I need to work on that.

3: Have you learned anything new this year? Yes, a few new birds, and plants, a lot about people.

4: Are you staying in touch with family and friends as you had hoped this year? My goal was at least one per week, I am probably a little below that, but I have made a better effort than years gone by.

5: How are you doing on blogging, writing, reading or commenting? I haven't missed a day of posting, I have added some new daily reads, lost a couple of daily reads, if I read, I likely comment at least once a week.

Please share your answers in the comments.

  1. 1. How many books have you read this year and how does that compare to what you had planned? I didn't count but I'd say roughly 8 or 9. Nothing like your impressive total.

2: How are you doing on staying active this year? I need to work on this one. I think I did better last year.

3: Have you learned anything new this year? Learning is constant. Life would be pretty dull without it.

4: Are you staying in touch with family and friends as you had hoped this year? Yes, but there a few distant friends I need to reach out to.

5: How are you doing on blogging, writing, reading or commenting? I haven't missed a day since I started blogging in 2008. It's a daily treat for me.

  2. 1. Books this year? I've read one. Currently in the midst of reading two others (three, if you count a manuscript I'm proofreading for a friend). On the upside, though, I've read 117 Steve-and-Bucky fanfics to date! Impressive, I know.

    2. Staying active? No comment. I'm pathetic. On a positive note, though, I'm back doing tai chi a couple of times per week.

    3. Learned anything new? Not that I can think of.

    4. Staying in touch with family and friends? About the same as always.

    5. Blogging, etc? Still going gangbusters!

  3. 1. Books this year? No, didn't set any goals for that, which is just as well. I cannot get interested in any subject long enough to open a book.

    2. Staying active? I am finally getting in the habit of meeting my bicycle goal each morning. I feel good about this accomplishment.

    3. Learned anything new? That widowhood sucks! Fortunately my friends in the blogosphere have been very helpful seeing me through this.

    4. Staying in touch with family and friends? Circumstances have forced me to reach out more often than in past years. It feels good.

    5. blogging? Somehow I have been able to keep up my schedule after a short hiatus. Also expanding my blog activity to include bringing back Warrior Queen's dance party. Stay tumed!

  4. 1: How many books have you read this year and how does that compare to what you had planned? I don't think I planned on a number, but I've read nine this year.

2: How are you doing on staying active this year? Walking every day; hiking when we can get into the hills; just being outdoors, away from people, and moving.

3: Have you learned anything new this year? That some members of my family are COVID-denying loons. I always knew the loon part, but the COVID-denying was new.

4: Are you staying in touch with family and friends as you had hoped this year? Friends, yes, my Dad, always, nieces and cousins, yes, My bother--the aforementioned COVID-DENYING loon--not so much.

5: How are you doing on blogging, writing, reading or commenting? I do good with the blogging, I think. I was late making the reading and commenting rounds because I was horrifically under the weather with some residual shingles nerve pain so I stayed in a dark room and slept quite a lot.

  5. 1: How many books have you read this year and how does that compare to what you had planned? I have read 17 books, a far drop to 2020. In my defense I am slogging through Last of the Mohicans which takes a long time to read.

2: How are you doing on staying active this year? Back to gym, better than last year.

3: Have you learned anything new this year? All the time but nothing specific leaps to mind.

4: Are you staying in touch with family and friends as you had hoped this year? yes

5: How are you doing on blogging, writing, reading or commenting? Alas, I am behind in my reads, again.
