The Sunday Five - Ready to Fly


  1. Have you had a COVID vaccine yet, if not have you been able to sign up? 
  2. When do you think you will be able to get a vaccine? 
  3. Would you travel again without having a vaccine? 
  4. Do you have any travel plans for this year?
  5. Do you think the country and the world will remember and learn from this, the next time? 
My answers: 
  1. Have you had a COVID vaccine yet, if not have you been able to sign up? I have signed up for a waiting list,  
  2. When do you think you will be able to get a vaccine? About 10 weeks from now unless the supply increases drastically. 
  3. Would you travel again without having a vaccine? No 
  4. Do you have any travel plans for this year? I have offered to speak at a conference in Reno in late October, but won't make travel plans unless and until it is safe. 
  5. Do you think the country and the world will remember and learn from this, the next time?  No, politics got in the way of humanity.

    Have you had a COVID vaccine yet, if not have you been able to sign up? No. And it doesn't work that way here. We'll be notified when it's our turn.
    When do you think you will be able to get a vaccine? At this point, after April 15. But that may change to sooner.
    Would you travel again without having a vaccine? No.
    Do you have any travel plans for this year? Late August, if all goes well.
    Do you think the country and the world will remember and learn from this, the next time? Nope.

      Hoping for August, we have an old friend who has moved to NYC this year, we want to go visit (he is about half way up Central Park, a couple of blocks west of the Park.) Lunch while you are there?

    1. No. The vaccine only arrived today and I've learnt R and myself are in the first 27% to receive the jabs.
    2. See above.
    3. Definitely not.
    4. A few days holiday within our state in March.
    5. I do think the world has learnt a huge lesson, some of which was well known by Western scientists and very well known by Asian scientists. Mask up being an important one.

    1 - we have signed up on a waiting list with our county government

    2 - about 10 weeks from now

    Do you think the country and the world will remember and learn from this, the next time? A lot of Americans learned nothing being IN it, so when we're OUT of it they're still be ignorant.

    Have you had a COVID vaccine yet, if not have you been able to sign up?--My local Meijer pharmacy CALLED ME!! I am 71, have MS, and a very compromised immune system. I had my second Moderna shot three days ago. My husband, 88 and a diabetic with heart issues, had his second Moderna shot a week ago. I still don't know why Meijer pharmacy called me, but I am so grateful.
    When do you think you will be able to get a vaccine?--see above
    Would you travel again without having a vaccine?--No, but I haven't flown for ten years or traveled anywhere since a brief trip in 2014.
    Do you have any travel plans for this year?--We'd like to drive somewhere fairly close, maybe northern Michigan.
    Do you think the country and the world will remember and learn from this, the next time?--I agree with Bob's answer above.

    1. I got my first shot on February 5th.
    2. I get the second shot on March 2nd.

    4. I've been talking with a friend about making a test run short trip to Tucson for a weekend sometime in late March.

      A local road trip sounds like a nice way to ease back in. I have offered to speak at a conference in Reno in, hoping it is safe to travel by then.

    1. I got both doses of the Moderna vaccine.
    2. Two weeks ago was my last dose.
    3. I would not travel without it. And it only reduces risk, not eliminates anything.
    4. Not yet. But it will be the beach - driving. No planes. No international travel. No big cities. Not in 2021.
    5. If history tells us anything, we won't learn enough regarding this, not when it comes down to the travel and tourism industry. There is a Risk/Benefit analysis and they'll always take the risk in hopes for the %%%.

    When do you think you will be able to get a vaccine? months from now I suppose
    Would you travel again without having a vaccine? I go to MI next month, regardless.
    Do you have any travel plans for this year? only to MI
    Do you think the country and the world will remember and learn from this, the next time? History shows us no, and next time it will be worse and people will do less than now.
