Birds in the Marsh

19 out of 20 days I don't see anything larger than a Yellow Bellied Sap Sucker on my morning walks, then there is this, he/she was huge.
Right over my head and out to fish on the River.
Updated based on the first few comments.
The side View of the head, confirms this is an Osprey, the eagle hawk does not have the dark stripe on the side of the face.  Otherwise the two are quite similar.

  2. That is quite amazing. I could be wrong, but I believe that is a BLack-White Eagle Hawk. They are birds of prey and carnivores. To my knowledge they mostly frequent Central and South America...so he was either way off course, or with out hotter and humid weather, they are coming further north..who knows. I found once an injured owl...turns out they are only in the UK!!! He was way off ocusre, So it does happens. Pretty neat to see.

    1. It’s an osprey. I’ve never seen a black and white eagle hawk. Just looked at pictures. Really beautiful!

    2. I have not tried to confirm and identity, but there are Ospreys nesting in the area, and fishing in the river.
