Baa- Baa

Over the years our collection of house sheep have appeared from time to time on the blog. The fondness for sheep extends to the animate kind.  When we were taking the train from Dublin to Galway, we kept passing fields of sheep, rather than saying, oh look sheep, I simply went Baa!  I thought the lady sitting across from me was going to get up and move to another seat, or another train.

What do you do when you pass a meadow full of sheep?

  1. I love sheep...makes me want to run my hands through their fur wool coat.

When I go to the little market here I always feed them.

    1. If you go to the right little market, they will feed you. A friends mother told me how to make Yorkshire Stew.

  4. I go baaaaa at sheep and mooooo at cows. I like their wool superwashed to remove all the lanolin (allergic) before I knit with it. I tried lamb once and did not care for the taste. and look at those sweet faces!

    1. The sheep think that goats are strange. There is a good restaurant in DC that has goat tacos on the menu - I wouldn't go out of my way for them a second time.

  7. We don't see a lot of sheep in Canada. We're all about cattle. But in England, we saw tons of sheep. Took me a minute to figure out what they were.

  9. When I was in Ireland a couple of years ago, I spent a week on the west coast. I visited a sheep farm and watched them shear the sheep. It was fascinating. Especially learning about how the sheep dogs heard them.

    2. As a kid, I used to think you had to kill the sheep to get the wool. It made me kind of sad. Then again, I thought goats were male sheep for years!
