ReplyDelete2. We put a new kitchen in our SF house in the late '90s.
3. Nope.
4. The Eiffel Tower.
5. We're on 3 levels. It may soon be time to get a one-story house.
You have such a wonderful setting, an elevator?
DeleteHow long have you lived at your current nest? 21 years baby!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever done a major remodel? Remodeled when moved in...and refreshed this year.
Have you ever built a new nest? Hell no!
If you could have any view in the world, what would you look out on? That's easy...the ocean!
Is your current nest, too large, too small, or just right? It's is just right...perfect for me and so comfortable.
21 years, you were still in elementary school when you moved there.
DeleteHow long have you lived at your current nest? February will be 8 years, which is the longest we've lived anywhere together in 39 years.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever done a major remodel? We LOVE major remodels.
Have you ever built a new nest? No, but we moved into a brand new home built on spec in San Francisco.
If you could have any view in the world, what would you look out on? The sea... as we do now.
Is your current nest, too large, too small, or just right? Too small. Nice number of rooms, but not enough square footage.
Maybe you have settled in for the long haul?
DeleteThe condo next door to us is empty, if I had a spare $350,000 I could buy it and cut through a doorway.
I fantasize all the time about taking over the unit next door OR the one above!
Delete1 Eighteen years I think.
ReplyDelete2 Yes. A few of years ago remodel of kitchen and then a year or so ago the bathrooms.
3 Built a new nest? Extensively renovated homes at times.
4 The view I now have.
5 It is the right size for me. My partner says it should be smaller to stop overnight guests and he would like a courtyard or terrace rather than a small balcony.
We don't have a guest room, could use a library/home-office. There are two new hotels nearby.
DeleteHow long have you lived at your current nest?
ReplyDelete9 years this March - the longest I’ve ever lived one place in my life and the longest Jeffrey and I have ever lived in one place together. We will be here at least another 8 years until we are both retired. Then...???
Have you ever done a major remodel?
Yes. Our kitchen several years ago (which we barely survived); Our basement this year. (Much better experience.); Some outside tweaks (back porch, front porch, and fence.) We are done.
Have you ever built a new nest?
Nope. And never will. Out of our income level, unfortunately, but would love to.
If you could have any view in the world, what would you look out on?
Secluded woods (I cherish privacy and hate being surrounded by neighbors) or Cape Cod Bay (of course.)
Is your current nest, too large, too small, or just right?
For overall space, we have plenty of room for two people and two dogs and I like the number of rooms but I’d like the space designed differently. I’d never purchase a cape again...eaved ceilings rob you of too much space in a room and the upstairs is a bitch to cool and heat. But 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths (yup) and now a finished basement makes the house seem bigger inside than outside. I’d never go bigger, but could go smaller (and likely will.)

When I was working in the building biz, I could build new for less than buying old. The last one I built for myself was very custom, and built in 73 days (I had sold a house and was crashing at my brothers place.)
Delete1. We have lived here thirteen years.
ReplyDelete2. The three bathrooms, yes; and a kitchen is in the future.
3. We have not.
4. Northern California or Oregon coast ... or Central Park from up high.
5.I feel it's a little large; not a lot of rooms, but a big rooms.
The kitchen will likely cost more than my first home did in 1982.
Delete1. I've lived at my current address for 5 years.
ReplyDelete2. No, I've never done a remodel but I have childhood memories of when my parents did a huge remodel.
3. No, I've never built a new home.

Delete1. We've lived here 18 years and two months.
ReplyDelete2. Both bathrooms remodeled and wood floors put in every other room except the kitchen.
3. Built a new nest, as in actual building? No. Our last house in San Diego was newly built when we bought it, though. Metaphorical nest? Ten. We will be moving into our, hopefully, last one during the next couple of years.
4. Anywhere that I'm not looking into anyone else's windows and vice versa.
5. The current nest is a few square feet smaller than the new one. I loathe it. Too small, too few closets and too dark. Eighteen years is long enough!
Looking forward to your move, and you know where you are going. New is nice, the house in Kentucky was new - almost finished when we bought it. The condo is the first "used" home I have owned.
Delete1. Current nest: seven years
ReplyDelete2. Major remodel: no, I'm a renter
