The Way We Were Wednesday - Before My Time

This is my oldest brother, probably 6 or 7 years before I was born.  The first house my parents had, in the Detroit suburbs.  I have at least one of the ornaments on that tree.  Can you imagine that rocking horse passing toy safety standards today?

  1. nope! your bro would be wearing a helmet, and the springs would be covered so no fingers would be caught, and red paint, and and and...

  6. Those ornaments look very familiar to me. My grandparents had those striped ones and for many, many years I had two of them on my tree every year.

    1. I have probably a dozen from my parents, some dating to the late 1940's.

  7. That a great picture!!!!! When I was home we went to Hummelstown where they had a toy store, which was a shock in to itself. You hardly even see toys stores anymore. Town Toys sells all those wonderful old toys...not this new stuff that I think looks like toys. Apparently they do very well my aunt tells me.

    1. Not sure there this came from, but, The difference between the men and the boys, is the price of the toys.
