Happy Boxing Day, to those who observe. We did a Boxing Day Brunch several years in Lexington, got us out of the usual loop of we'd love to come to your party but we have three invitations for that evening.
There is a line in an old Christmas carol, Fast away the old year passes, for me 2020 has flown by. It seems like just yesterday I was setting goals for the year, planning a trip, then returning to a world that was changing rapidly. It is like I have hardly moved since mid-March, and yet I have.
So many changes, a year that flew by. Soon we will be able to say, that looking back everything is in 2020 hindsight.
Presidential Inauguration day is January 20, 2021, abbreviated in the USA, 1/20/21, the most anticipated palindrome in American history.
I expect another year will Zoom by, filled with Zoom meetings.
Fast year, or slow year for you?
Considering......fast. I think 2012 will be a alright year...but much of this baggage we have is going with us whether we like it or not. I don't think political or the economy will improve...as many are on verge of collapse and DC doesn't seem to care.
ReplyDeleteI think we are going to see a lot of changes in the front line economy (retail, personal services) in the next couple of years.
DeleteVery fast. Curiously, considering all that happened. Or didn't. Inauguration day can't some soon enough.
ReplyDeleteThis work from home time, is preparing me for retirement.
DeleteI doubt many young people would know the origin of Boxing Day, a public holiday here, but no matter, public holidays are always good. I was going to write on about the year nearly past, but I will save it for an end of year blog post. I agree though, the year has passed by rather fast.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to your blog post about the year.
DeleteEven with COVID and lockdowns and shutdowns and no work and work from home, it feels like the year flew by.
ReplyDeleteGood.
Soon it will be but a distant yesterday.
Deletedidn't fly by fast enough for me. consign 2020 to the dumpster fires of hell!
ReplyDeleteWill 2020 be the 1929 of our times?
DeleteIt pretty much didn't seem either fast or slow to me. The past 2 months, however, did seem to go quite slowly - I think the election had a lot to do with that.
ReplyDeleteAs long as it was not being around me, that made time stand still
DeleteThis year from hell passed surprisingly quickly... although it was awful painful. Twenty One OH Twenty One!
ReplyDeleteOh, crap, Twenty OH OH Twenty One!
ReplyDeleteTwo thousand twenty one. I something recently that referred to back at the turn of the century, and realized they meant the turn of the century in my lifetime.
DeleteThat turn-of-the-century statement may have come from me. I know I used it recently and was taken aback myself when i realized.
Delete2020 went by slowly for me because of the lack of travel and activities out in the community but you know, it was okay because I needed a rest anyway, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhen we start traveling again, it will be so special.
DeleteI feel like the year has flown by too. Without anything to do, that doesn't make sense but maybe that's exactly why if feels that way. No travel experiences and memories.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a bit of a blurr, onward!
DeleteWe moved my Christmas eve meal to Boxing day and this turned out well.
ReplyDeleteI may do so again in 2021.
I made roast beef tenderloin and Yorkshire Puddings on Christmas eve, it was amazing, Boxing Day, was left over turkey and dressing - the cooks day off.
