Sunday Five - First Time


Everything we do started someplace and time.  This week's theme, first times. 

  1. How old were you when you got your first passport? 
  2. In what place did you first clear Customs and Immigration or border control? 
  3. What was the first airport you boarded an airline flight at? 
  4. Where was the first place you went over 100 miles per hour in a car?
  5. Where was the first place you saw a live concert? 
My answers: 

  1. How old were you when you got your first passport? 32 
  2. In what place did you first clear Customs and Immigration or border control? Sarnia, Ontario - as a kid when it was simple - very few questions asked and no ID needed (good thing my grandmother was undocumented at the time.) 
  3. What was the first airport you boarded an airline flight at?  Detroit, DTW the old terminal - Eastern Airlines.  
  4. Where was the first place you went over 100 miles per hour in a car? M-90 in North Branch Michigan in a 1965 Plymouth with my oldest brother driving - he could really drive . 
  5. Where was the first place you saw a live concert? Jacksonville Florida, KISS.

    3. Brisbane. At the age of 18, all by myself, on my way to Darwin to commence my nursing career. Those were the days when all nursing training in Australia was hospital based. The training in Darwin was provided by the Federal government which somehow meant I flew first class!

    5. Brisbane. Simon and Garfunkel. Loved them - still do.

    In what place did you first clear Customs and Immigration or border control? London
    What was the first airport you boarded an airline flight at? Rochester International (because they had flights to Canada, which was an hour away by car) New York.
    Where was the first place you went over 100 miles per hour in a car? Southern Italy. I wasn’t driving.
    Where was the first place you saw a live concert? I think the Brooklyn Museum. A performance of Peter and the Wolf. Phenomenal.

  6. 17 for a High School trip overseas
    Amsterdam
    JFK in New York
    Montana, on a long straight street has of roadway and I also have a picture of the speedometer for proof
    Atlantic City Steel Pier ( old original one) and it was Paul Reevere and the Raiders ( hey, I am 63!)

    2. Tijuana
    3. Lindburgh Field, San Diego honeymoon trip to Disneyland. Hey, we were nineteen, okay?
    4. Somewhere in the desert in whatever state Las Vegas is in. I'm geographically challenged. We were in a brand new 1979 Chevy Impala station wagon, of all things.
    5. Somewhere in San Diego. High school field trip to see and hear a classical orchestra. The Prehistoric Philharmonic or some such. Mozart I think and I believe Beethoven also.

  9. How old were you when you got your first passport? 1986 I think it was -going to Germany. I was 23 or so.
    In what place did you first clear Customs and Immigration or border control? as a tot, on one of the many family treks to Ontario.
    What was the first airport you boarded an airline flight at? DTW
    Where was the first place you went over 100 miles per hour in a car? I don't believe I ever have.
    Where was the first place you saw a live concert? Symphony? perhaps 6yo
