Maybe it was the original movie with Barbra and Kris, there seemed to be chemistry, certainly some of her best work (if you haven't seen it, do so when you can) or maybe it is the voice and lyrics. This song makes it onto my top ten list. We are starting to advise people to make lists of the music they would want to listen to, or the movies they would want to watch if they become unable to say what they want. This one belongs on my list. Actually almost anything by Barbara.
I usually love Streisand, but this is just not my kind of song... and I have lots of kinds of songs. A bit schmaltzy for my taste (like The Way We Were).

DeleteAnd adorable photo of J!

DeleteYes, I am adorable, ain't I?
DeleteYes you are. And David captured that in the photo.

DeleteIt is not bad but I think I prefer Memories, perhaps because I could once play it on our piano.
ReplyDeleteAnother good one
DeleteThis has always been one of my favourite songs too! And what a great photo of your lovely husband!
ReplyDeleteCute

DeleteOkay ... bad Gay here, but I am not a Streisand fan. I don't dislike her, and admire her talent, but I can take her or leave her.
ReplyDeleteBut, like you said, something for everyone.

DeleteThat's a great song. I love listening to Steisand.
ReplyDeleteGreat strong voice
DeleteI've never seen this movie in any of its iterations (I doubt very seriously that this is the right word). Way to soap opera for my taste. I do like the song, though. I prefer her Broadway stuff.
ReplyDeleteI should see more movies, it is great to hear from you!
DeleteHi, Wicked! Nice to see you! I am a luke-warm fan of Babs, but can't deny her talent and popularity. BUT, I do love Funny Girl and I love her version of "Jingle Bells" and I will belt out "Don't Rain on My Parade" at the top of my lungs any time it is played.
