The Way We Were Wednesday - Faces in the Window

This was in my father's slide collection, faces of a family frozen in time.  This would be from the very early 1950's, typical post World War II midwestern house.  Aluminum storm door was state of the art post war, production and manufacturing of aluminum was perfected by aircraft production. The house is covered in asbestos siding, state of the art, fireproof, deadly to those who made and installed it. The pull back on the curtains showing pre-war sense of home. A couple and two kids.  Someone's family frozen in time.  And I have absolutely no idea who.

I wonder what happened in their lives? Are the kids still alive? If they saw this would they recognize their family?

  1. A great moment in time. And a curiosity. It be great if one of those kids saw the photo here and recognised their family. (I had no idea that kind of siding was made of asbestos.)

    1. Sears sold it, delivered to the house, the old farmhouse was covered in it. Cutting it, or breaking it was hazardous to your health.

  4. Last summer I found a huge collection of slides I had forgotten all about. The vast majority were from my very first trip to Europe but there were a few of family that were a lot older. When I sorted through the ones from Europe, I wondered the exact same thing. Are the people in the shots still around?

    1. There was one box from my father, from the late 40's or very early 50's, in black&white. Some amazing images

  5. My father has 90+ carousels of slides which he started taking in the 60s. Brother #3 is slowly going through them - he's running across a lot of photos of people of whom we are clueless. It's another example everything should be labelled as people do not remember.
