The Sunday Five - Finish this Line


 Let's play with some creative writing, I will start the line, and you can finish it.  

  1. It was blowing a gale, as we approached the cliff, only to see_____ 
  1. And there it was, on the rocks, the last thing I ever expected to find _______
  2. Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear _________
  3. The best thing I ever saw on a beach was ______
  4. And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds _______
My answers: 
  1. It was blowing a gale, as we approached the cliff, only to see nine penguins fishing for krill.  
  2. And there it was, on the rocks, the last thing I ever expected to find five drag queens in high heeled boots. 
  3. Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear bagpipes, why did it have to be bagpipes! 
  4. The best thing I ever saw on a beach was sunshine on my shoulders, making me happy. 
  5. And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds "you haven't seen the last of me!"

    1. It was blowing a gale, as we approached the cliff, only to see nude sunbathers down on the beach.
    2. And there it was, on the rocks, the last thing I ever expected to find, a stand selling Spanish doughnuts.
    3. Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear a lone piper.
    4. The best thing I ever saw on a beach was a couple hopelessly trying to launch a too large boat. The boat was fine on the water. Their car floating next to it, not so good.
    5. And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds, Lord make me good, but not quite yet.

  3. 1. It was blowing a gale, as we approached the cliff, only to see a hang glider precariously perched on the rock face, the pilot's bloodied expression frozen in terror.
    2. And there it was, on the rocks, the last thing I ever expected to find, the clown mask I removed after burying the bodies in the sand.
    3. Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear my deceased mother calling me for dinner.
    4. The best thing I ever saw on a beach was my gorgeous, loving, ever so patient sun screen-slathered wife of almost 10 years.
    5. And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds Stop, damm it, stop! I should've dug a little deeper!

    And there it was, on the rocks, the last thing I ever expected to find my long lost sister lying dead in the sand.

    Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear the sound of murderous laughter.

    The best thing I ever saw on a beach was the very attractive police detective coming to question me.

    And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds "I will find out who killed you!!"

    3.Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear the howling of a wolf.
    4.The best thing I ever saw on a beach was were the dolphins playing in the waves.
    5.And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds "see you next year".

  8. It was blowing a gale, as we approached the cliff, only to see the shipwreck below.
    And there it was, on the rocks, the last thing I ever expected to find a woman standing looking impervious to what was all around her.
    Over the howling wind, I was surprised to hear her voice cut through the gale.
    The best thing I ever saw on a beach was she was not alone.
    And after it all, I vowed to return to that beach, shouting to the winds of thanksgiving.
