My Music Monday - The Sound of Silence - Pentatonix

I love this song, I am of the era, it was released when I was young.  The message can be dark, or depressing, but it can also be a welcoming of being alone, in silence. Sometimes I just need to get away, to hear the birds, to hear the wind, to silence the chatter of daily life.

This weeks photo was taken on a mountain top, near Juneau in Alaska. We took a cable car / ski life to the top, and walked a trail around the top of the mountain in the fog and a little light rain.  It was magical.

  1. Stunning photo. What an experience that must have been. I love Pentatonix and have always loved this powerful song. Paul Simon is a brilliant poet.

Simon and Garfunkel wasn't it? I've never found it depressing. Pity the sound in this clip is out of sync, but it is absolutely wonderful and thanks for pointing us to it.

  3. I love this song! I learned it back when I was 12, in 7th grade. Spanish class, no less. Our teacher would bring in his guitar on Fridays and have a class sing-along. Some songs were in Spanish and others weren't. This one was kind of new, so he had the lyrics printed out for us. I love the pure poetry of the thing, and got into Simon and Garfunkel big time. S&G's version is still my favorite, but I love this acapella version almost as much. Pentatonix is one of best at what they do. I've gotten on an acapella kick with them and Home Free.
Now I need to find my Simon and Garfunkel's greatest hits cd.

  5. I love this group, although I admit I miss the previous bass-man.
I was not aware they were still together as a group.
