The Way We Were Wednesday - Cypress Gardens

This was taken in 1972, at Cypress Gardens.  Cypress Gardens was a southern themed attraction, with gardens and a water ski show in Winter Haven, Florida.  Cypress gardens closed in 2009, and was converted into Lego Land opening in 2011.

  3. Eek(ok gads....haven't been there since I was a tyke. I remember it very well though. I remember women in huge hoop skirts walking around and thinking how glam. I'm gonna wear a huge dress one day. Mind you more campy though.

  5. I remember this place. Our family visited there in 1954 when we were living in Florida for six months while my dad was on sabbatical.

  7. I remember hating getting my picture with the “southern belles” in their hooped dresses and parasols. I do recall the water show and the bleachers that you could sit on and the announcer telling you hen to snap the photo, also around the same area, we used to go see the sponge diver and also go to Sunken Gardens. Does anyone remember the restaurant, The Kapock Tree inn.....that was our big treat for dinner when visiting my Great Aunt, who lived in St. Petersburg. Also we. Had to go to the Pier ( old one) then there was a more modern monstrosity built. Now I hear there is nothing there. We used to go don there to feed the pelicans. Fed the ducks at Mirror Lake.
