The Sunday Five: Well Worn

I have nearly worn the A off of my very dirty office keyboard.  Inspiration enough for the Sunday five this week.

1: How many miles or kilometers per year do you drive?
2: How many pairs of shoes do you wear out each year?
3: What is the oldest item of clothing that you continue to wear from time to time?
4: What item of technology have you been surprised by how long it lasted?
5: Dishes, have you worn out the good stuff?

My answers:
1: I drive my car less than 2,000 miles per year, at this rate I may already own my last car.
2: Two or three, I need a lot of comfort in shoes, when that fades - they need to go.
3: I have a navy blue Irish will sweater that I bought in London in 1990, that I still wear. Love it.
4: My current Kindle is a survivor - 5 plus years. This was a surprise the first 4 Kindles didn’t last long, a couple of broken screens, a battery failure, and software failure.
5: Yes, I have used a set of good stuff daily for a decade, washing it in the dishwasher, and washing the pattern off of it.

Your answers in the comments.

  3. 1: How many miles or kilometers per year do you drive? Well, we've had our car more than 2 years and just passed 10,000 km (6,000 miles). So not much! Besides, I've yet to get my Spanish license, so I haven't driven at all.
2: How many pairs of shoes do you wear out each year? Perhaps 2. I have a lot of shoes to cycle through!
3: What is the oldest item of clothing that you continue to wear from time to time? A sweater my mother made for my father in 1949. It's stunning and it still looks brand new.
4: What item of technology have you been surprised by how long it lasted? I have an iPod I bought in 2002.
5: Dishes, have you worn out the good stuff? We gave away all our dishes and started all over again in Spain in 2011. But, no, we wouldn't have worn out the good stuff. Too many sets to cycle through!

  4. 1. Me personally? Maybe about 300 miles. I don't drive much anymore.

    2. I only wear out slippers. I live in slippers when home. Cujo snacks on them. I have way too many other shoes to wear out.

    3. I have an elegant African caftan like thing that I've had for forty years. It's red and pretty and packs well. It goes on cruises and employee appreciation functions. Being caftan like it still fits!

    4. Technology? Well, anything that lasts more than a week in my hands is good.

    5. What is the good stuff in dishes? I had a Stone....I can't remember the name, set until I got bored with it after 20 years and bought Corelle. If it ain't paper, it's the good stuff.

    1. By the way, your keyboard makes mine look pristine, and I have a spot on one of the keys that is either chocolate or refried beans!

  5. Tut ! Aren't you wiping down the keyboards on a regular basis??
