This is the original batmobile, a custom built by George Barris on a one-off concept car. It sold into private hands at auction a few years ago for $4.6-million US dollars. The commentators asked the buyer if he had a spot set aside for it in his garage, and his reply was "it is going in my living room." It is now on loan to the National Automobile Museum in Reno Nevada. The museum has the remains of the Harrah's collection.
Maybe the buyer was happy for the car to go to the museum after it leaked oil on his Axminster.
ReplyDeletePossible, there was also a lot of pressure for the car to be seen by the public. I can imagine people hunting for the guys house and standing outside
DeleteThat show was so campy and entertaining... and I got to continue to watch it unashamedly in reruns for years thanks to The Kid Brother. I would love to show up at his apartment in that car!
ReplyDeleteYou'd want the original, KB would spot a fake.
DeleteYears back we saw the Harrah's Collection.it was quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteI can still imagine cruising around in the Batmobile with Robin in his mini-briefs.
Many fantasies
DeleteI think that Batmobile came here to Edmonton once for a big car show. I loved that goofy Batman series when I was a wee tyke.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun
DeleteI wonder if that is the same car I saw at the Barrett-Jackson auction back in 2013. I posted it here:

That is where it was sold, I think it is the same one.
DeleteI recall that museum had a Tucker. I got to see it when AM got a chance to attend a travel agent conference in Sparks. We took the train of course.
ReplyDeleteNope. But now if that was Cruella Devils car..........SOLD.
