If I have your address, you may have received a postcard from me this month. I have been collecting picture postcards since the mid 1960's. Have a medium size storage box filled with them. I took photos for postcards for a couple of years when I first moved to Florida year around, mostly commercial and advertising jobs (immensely stressful work.) A lot of people are stressed right now, a lot of people are missing travel, missing hearing from others who are traveling. So I decided to dig into the box, pull out my address book and send cards at random just to say Hi! If I brightened one person's day, it was worth it.
When was the last time you mailed a picture postcard?
I mailed a few on my trip last summer from Vienna.
ReplyDeleteVienna, my sweet bear wants to go there so bad,
DeleteTAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteI got mine from you! :) it made my day.
ReplyDeleteI think the last time was to my new in-laws in 1992. the postcard was from new orleans.
Ah New Orleans! I have had some great food in that city, and only one 190 frozen drink,
DeleteWe used to send lots when we travelled and in advance printed out addresses on labels in later years, but during our last overseas holiday to the UK, we only sent one to my mother.
ReplyDeleteWe had address books on our phones, that don't contain very many addresses - Lucky mom
DeleteI send one every week to The Kid Brother... And thank YOU again... and again... and again... for sharing one from your collection with him. He has saved every postcard he has ever received.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection.
DeleteJust yesterday as a matter of fact. My close friend David and I have been sending each other post cards from our own collections ever since this pandemic started. He and I used to have dinner together at least once a week but now our dinners are confined to Zoom. It's been a fun project sending the cards back and forth.
ReplyDeleteHow delightful
DeleteI haven't sent any postcards since my Mom died a couple of years ago. I used to send some to her all the time in the nursing home. It gave her something interesting in the mail to look at.
