The Sunday Five: 2023 Travel Plans Edition

Only a few Sundays left this year, time for me to ask about your plans, wishes, dreams.

1: For 2023 do you see yourself traveling more or less than 2022?

2: What is #1 on your travel plans for 2023?

3: How many nights do you expect to stay in hotels in 2023?

4: Is there anyplace you will avoid in 2023?

5: Fly, Train, Ship, or Drive in 2023?

My answers:

1: For 2023 do you see yourself traveling more or less than 2022? Barring another global health crisis, more.

2: What is #1 on your travel plans for 2023? Arizona in January, New Orleans in February,  Hawaii is looking likely.

3: How many nights do you expect to stay in hotels in 2023? I expect to be close to 45 - I have a hotel journal going back to 2005.

4: Is there anyplace you will avoid in 2023? The deep red south of the USA.

5: Fly, Train, Ship, or Drive in 2023? I see a lot more flying in 2023 for me.

Please share your answers in the comments.

  1. 1. Perhaps less if counted by trips but more if by distance.
    2. Fiji to celebrate a family birthday. We are waxing and waning about travelling to England.
    3. Maybe three weeks in total in hotels.
    4. Anywhere hot and tropical...well except Fiji.
    5. More train travel.

How many nights do you expect to stay in hotels in 2023? Maybe 30 to 40.

Is there anyplace you will avoid in 2023? Same as you...the red South and Texas.

5: Fly, Train, Ship, or Drive in 2023? Mostly drive...fly and then train.

  3. 1: For 2023 do you see yourself traveling more or less than 2022? More

3: How many nights do you expect to stay in hotels in 2023? No more than 30.
4: Is there anyplace you will avoid in 2023? SO many places in the US. Well-known human rights violators and homophobic governments and people.

    1. Trans Atlantic by ship could be fun

  4. 1. About the same. One bigger trip. One smaller trip. And a long weekend or two.
    2. Have narrowed down the location, but it will be a birthday trip.
    3. 5-6. Oh the days of work travel where I spent 150 day in a hotel. Those are done. I hope.
    4. I try to avoid the red states, though that can be difficult. If traveling overseas, have to avoid place of high antisemitism, and homophobic places. You know, the red states of the world.
    5. We haven't been on a plane since 2019. I don't miss it. But I believe we might have to fly in 2023. We will see. The rest by car. A train trip would be for my husband's birthday.

  5. 1: For 2023 do you see yourself traveling more or less than 2022? Slowly getting back to more.

2: What is #1 on your travel plans for 2023? I like the islands ... Manhattan and Key West. So different but I love them both.

3: How many nights do you expect to stay in hotels in 2023? A couple of handfuls probably.

4: Is there anyplace you will avoid in 2023? Nope. I live in a Red State--in a Blue Dot in a Red State--and find people very nice. I won't go to Backwater Red State but there are some lovely Southern cities to see.

5: Fly, Train, Ship, or Drive in 2023? Drive then fly, though I am up for a train trip. No ships, not my thing.

  6. 1: For 2023 do you see yourself traveling more or less than 2022? Probably more, since I spent half of 2021 and 2022 too sick to leave the house.

2: What is #1 on your travel plans for 2023? The usual: Ptown, Ogunquit, NYC, New Hope. But maybe a new place or two.

3: How many nights do you expect to stay in hotels in 2023? if you're counting all rented spaces (B&Bs, condos, etc.) we already have 10 nights booked and I anticipate several weekends more.

4: Is there anyplace you will avoid in 2023? Most deep red states where we are not safe. Once exception might be Mississippi with Jeffrey to visit his welcoming supportive cousins.

5: Fly, Train, Ship, or Drive in 2023?  Drive to all Northeast locals. I would consider flying if we wanted to go some place farther (Mississippi, Las Vegas, Arizona, Key West) but not because I like flying, just because it would save SO much travel time and I can't do long car trips like I used to.

P.S. I'd consider trips that would involve meeting up with other bloggers. *wink*
