Saturday Morning Post: A Fun Afternoon

Travel Penguin spent Friday afternoon with Mitchell and SG at Mason Salvador.  There was fish and chocolate and a good time was had by all.  We are staying in Malaga, a five minute walk from the local commuter rail station. The trains leave about every 20 minutes and it is about a 40 minute ride to the station just three blocks from where Mitchell, SG and the gatos live.

Their neighborhood is alive and lived in.  The beach dominates the landscape, but you look in the other direction and there are hills, small mountains. It is just a couple of blocks from the train to the beach.  It was raining on and off, great weather for a flightless waterfowl.  A little damp for humans.

We spent hours talking, eating, talking, eating, drinking a tiny bit. The food was good, the service kind and unhurried. When you have a chance, you should stop by and buy them lunch.  They are fun, funny, and brilliant. They are genuinely nice people, who have created a happy life.

We went by the house and met the cats.  Dudo was being shy and skittish, as is his want.  Moose was quietly perched in SG's office, I held my hand out and he sniffed my fingers, then went back to his repose.  I was honored that he found me worthy of a sniff.

They have a spectacular view, if you follow his blog, you have seen the view.  I could live there.  I could sit there and look at that view for years.

Want to travel like this, make plans, make it a priority, don't let excuses stand in your way.  I really should be in the office, getting things done, catching up on a couple of projects. There are other things I could/should spend the money on. But this is a priority for me. Early on in my career I cancelled a trip to be at the office for a project launch, that was then delayed. That was it, work will wait, if I don't go and travel it never happens.  More on that in later posts, but don't wish you were traveling, make plans and go, go now.
