Now I have to admit, his art makes no sense to me. Really none at all. He had more talent that I do, or ability than I do. But most of his work says little to me. I think he was a master at telling a story and marketing.
In a back hallway, between a gallery and the bookstore, was his print rolling press. It is large, and it was just sort of sitting there. Millions, maybe billions of dollars in prints were produced on it. I was entranced by it.
Kel Tooker, a dear friend and periodic blogger is a print maker. I took the photo above specifically to send to her, with the caption Travel visits Picasso's print roller. I knew she would see the significance of it.
Well worth the walk. The Pompidou Center in Malaga was much more my style, I loved a some of the work they had on display and it spoke to me. Photos to follow soon.
I like the imagery of Picasso but it's still gibberish to me.

Delete"Guernica" in The Prada in Madrid speaks volumes. A work of genius and truth. However, in the modern world marketing, media and suchlike can boost up an artist's reputation to a degree where the name comes to mean more than the art. That may well have happened to Picasso.

DeleteOne of the members of my art challenge group is a print maker and he has his own press. I agree about Picasso's work. I don't get it either but I do enjoy trying to decipher some of it.
