Fabulous Friday: Dining Traditions - sort of

When we were in Boston back in October we stayed at the Omni Parker House Hotel.  There has been a hotel on this site since 1855, the current building opening in 1927.

It is home to the "Parker House Roll" and the Boston Cream Pie.  The main dining room is a spectacular space with high ceiling, carved walnut paneling and fussy old world service.

Oddly when we were there, the dining room was only open for breakfast and lunch.  I had breakfast there twice.  Eggs Benedict, and New England Corned beef Hash with poached eggs.  The food was good, the service welcoming, and the space fabulous.

I would go back.

  2. My memory of Parker House was my first visit to Boston. I drove up from NYC in the wee hours of the morning to stay with my friend Mary, a bar tender. She wasn’t home because she had spent the night at Parker House with a business man she met at her bar. I had to entertain myself on Beacon Hill for 2 hours while she was entertaining herself. Probably not how Parker House wants to be remembered.
