2: How far are you from a phone? Both the house phone and my cell on are on the desk.
3: Is it daylight or dark? daylight, later afternoon.
4: What can you hear? A freight train about 1.5 miles away.
5: If there is anything to drink within reach, what is it? A glass of water

4. Refrigerator in my right ear, the air-conditioning fan in my left ear, a helicopter and the occasional noisy motorcycle in the street.
5. A water bottle filled with tap water.
Living this close to DC, if we hear a helicopter, it is either the coast guard, or military, the presidential helicopters are based not far away

What can you hear? The news on TV in the lounge room (thanks WCS). My husband likes it, me not so much.
Is there anything to drink within reach? No, too late in the evening (see Deedles, above) but I have just finished two squares of excellent dark chocolate as an after dinner treat.
