The Way We Were Wednesday - way-way back

I was born in late August, this would have been Easter the following spring, I was less than a year old.  Notice my sister's sideways glance at the egg in my hand, my two freckled brothers.  There is a radio on the table, not something you would see in most living rooms today. The table it is setting on was still in my parents home when they died 58 years later.  I remember the china lamp, very post war, I don't think that one was still in the house, but the blue one was - left for the estate sale.

Hard to believe I had hair like that once.

  1. Such a cute picture!!!! Nothing in my parents home is the same. I think it was remodeled twice since I was bore.

    1. The table, and lamp stuck around, that part of the house, was used as a garage from the mid 60's on.

  3. I LOVE this photo. And the look in your sister’s eyes! Oh, and that sofa. My grandparents always had a radio like that in the living room. My mother always had one on a side table in the kitchen. My friends’ son once asked what the plastic box did.

    1. I am reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on my Kindle, how ironic. When it was published, part of the science fiction was that the guide was so large it had to by published on this strange little micro-memory device - like the one I am reading it on. What will the next 30 years bring?

You were a cute boy, for sure. I think you are older than one, maybe two.

    1. There are not a lot of pictures of my first couple of years, I think you may be right, I might 18-19 months in this one.

    1. Simple, quiet, not terribly prosperous for my family.

  6. I agree with Andrew. If you were less than a year old, they shouldn't have named you David. It should've been the other guy! I see you've retained those adorably pinch worthy cheeks :)

    1. More like 18-19 months? I don't know babies, I have never been around them. I was the youngest, my only first cousin is 15 years younger then I am, I was not around my sisters kids when they were babies.
