This song is about being back home, being burned out by being on the road. I have been there, 2017 and 2018 were a bit much. It was nice to be home. 2019 I did less travel, it looks like this year is going to be just one or two trips. That will bring back the desire to travel again. It is nice to be back home, for a while.
Have you ever become burned out from too much travel?
Honey, in usual times, many know how my summers go. If I even get one beach trip in Ill be happy... but don't know how that will go this year. But it can feel like burn out.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it ends with someone holding you tight.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, I've never had to do extensive traveling for work.
ReplyDeleteI have had some wonderful experiences, been some amazing places, met some incredible people - but I wouldn't want to do it every week.
DeleteIt's been a long time since I have traveled anywhere--last time was in July, 2014. But, in the "old" days, I would be thrilled to be heading to the UK or to Maine for two weeks or so. Coming home each time I felt a little bit of burn out.
ReplyDeleteIn 2017 I had over 25 out of town trips (11 trips to Florida.) 2018 was mostly work, about 30 trips. I will be ready to travel when the world starts to come back to normal.
DeleteOur trip to the States in 2016 was one of those "If It's Tuesday It Must Be Belgium" trips. To NYC, then to the middle of the country, back and forth across the middle, to the west, back to the middle, back to NYC. I was SO happy to get home. My business travel was always manageable.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to being back on the road
DeleteThat's a great song, brings back memories of a touring holiday of the US many years ago and a trip to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Las Vegas where I tasted my very first margarita. His recipe is the one we now always use. We did a lot of miles that summer.
ReplyDeleteStay well.
I am looking forward to long drives after retirement
DeleteI find nowadays I am 'ready to go home' after a week no matter where i go.
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks is about my limit. A couple of years ago, I passed 60 hotel nights one year, mostly short trips, but that was far too much.
