Sunday Five - Strange Things

When you travel, you get to see some strange things. Today the strangeness inspires the Sunday five.

  1. Any idea what is in the package above?
  2. Ever seen a dead saint in a glass box?
  3. What is the strangest mode of transportation you have ever experienced while traveling?
  4. What is the oldest building you have visited?
  5. Where was the worst hotel you have ever stayed in? (no names to protect the guilty and avoid libel.)
My answers:

  1. Any idea what is in the package above? If I told you, you'd know.  I will say it was in a church.
  2. Ever seen a dead saint in a glass box? A couple of times.
  3. What is the strangest mode of transportation you have ever experienced while traveling? A Zeppelin
  4. What is the oldest building you have visited? Something in Rome or Athens?
  5. Where was the worst hotel you have ever stayed in? (no names to protect the guilty and avoid libel.) Hazard Kentucky, the carpet was sticky, it was the best place in town and I had a training at 6:00 AM the next morning.
Please share your answers in the comments.

  1. Any idea what is in the package above? I will guess the heart of a saint?

Ever seen a dead saint in a glass box? Have you met my ex?

What is the strangest mode of transportation you have ever experienced while
traveling? Probably a boat on a canal in Amsterdam.

What is the oldest building you have visited? I would guess one of the many cathedrals in either Buenos Aires, or in Vienna. A lot of them dated back t0 the 1700's I would have to check to see the oldest. One in Beunoa Aires dated back to the late 1600's.

Where was the worst hotel you have ever stayed in? (no names to protect the guilty and avoid libel.) A major HUGE DUMP in Durham. A very well known chain. I was beyond shocked and still getting therapy.

    1. Re #5, was it the motel, or the ex that was worse?

    2. the motel; the ex got worse in the following years til I divorced his controlling/paranoid ass in 1991.

  3. Any idea what is in the package above? Supposedly, the heart of St. Laurence O'Toole. (I just impressed myself with this one!)
Ever seen a dead saint in a glass box? Yep, SG's 22-greats grandfather, Ferdinand III, in Sevilla.
What is the strangest mode of transportation you have ever experienced while traveling? Pedal carriage in Maria Luisa Park (again, in Sevilla).
What is the oldest building you have visited? And back to Sevilla, at the Antiquarium, homes and other structures from the 1st Century BC. At least I THINK those are the oldest.
Where was the worst hotel you have ever stayed in? (no names to protect the guilty and avoid libel.) A resort in Palm Springs. Filthy, delapidated, appalling. And advertised as campus-like grounds with individual private villas. I can't begin to tell you how vile it was.

  4. Any idea what is in the package above? Sacrementak wine. I'm always hoping there's more wine.

Ever seen a dead saint in a glass box? No, but I once saw a real "live: Bigfoot at a County Fair.

What is the strangest mode of transportation you have ever experienced while traveling? Paddle-boating in Hawaii.

What is the oldest building you have visited? London. All of it.

Where was the worst hotel you have ever stayed in? (no names to protect the guilty and avoid libel.) A place in Key West. Looked gorgeous on the outside, right on the water, a party dock, but inside it was, well, let's just say it was like a chemistry experiment with all the, um, bodily fluids. We left and went to big Ruby's, which is sadly now closed.

  6. 1. An old conservative heart. They ran out of stakes, hence the cage.

    2. Nope, and I never will. I don't count that thing Madonna was laying in in Evita, because saint.

    3. Mode of transportation: One of those boats that look like they have a fan on the back, while in Florida. We visited gators.

    4. Probably a mission or two in San Diego. We visited BH's grandmother's house in Alsip Ill. in 1976. It was over a hundred years old with a well, no running water and a chemical toilet. That was an adventure!

    5. We almost stayed at a cheesy motel in L.A. once, but it turned out to be one of those rent by the hour things. Even I have some standards! The last day of our honeymoon, we stayed at a hotel in San Diego as a joke. We always saw it off of the freeway and joked about going there for a night of sleasy fun. It was sleazy all right. Fun? Not so much, but we survived without needing shots.
