My Music Monday Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffett - It's Five O' Clock Somewhere

When I am working in the office, it takes me about an hour to get home most evenings.  By the time I get home, it is time to fix dinner.  With my current telecommute, when I am done at 5:00 I am home.  Cocktail hour, a half hour to relax and unwind from my day of work.   I have never gone out to lunch and not made it back to work in the afternoon, but there were a couple of times over the past 40 years when I felt like doing so.

Have you?  Should I someday?

  1. ew, dump supporters. ain't gonna watch.

not returned from lunch - once, and I wasn't drunk.

walked out of a job - twice. HATED the jobs. gave same day notice and left. no regrets, as I went on to better things.

I thought Jimmy Buffett was outspokenly anti-Trump and even got shit from his fans as a result. Is that not the case? Is Alan Jackson a supporter? Important to know.

Thanks. I'm relieved about Jimmy Buffett. Never followed Alan Jackson and won't start now.

5.30pm here actually. Do you prefer working from home? Some people do, some people don't. Some employers may be wondering why they need huge office space when people can satisfactorily work from home, but I don't think it is sustainable in the long term.

    1. I have mixed feelings on working from home, I miss the office, not being able to drop into Charlies office and ask questions, has made things more complicated, communication is more complicated. A colleague offered to share an office with me, she would only come in one or two days a week and I could work from home those days. We are in the high rent district of a very expensive city, my tiny office is crazy expensive.

  3. I haven't had a drink in more than 44 days. I'm beginning to miss it. But SG drinks very little and I won't drink at home alone. Can't wait to raise a glass at one of my favorite places.

  4. I can't recall ever going to lunch and then just not returning to work that afternoon, but I once had a boss who said "I'm just going out for a bowl of soup" and then we didn't see or hear from him again for 3 days. I don't know if he went on a massive bender or what -- he never explained his absence. From then on, we often referred to long lunches as "a three-day bowl of soup," LOL!

    1. Oh, and I remember watching this video along with other Jimmy Buffett videos on an endless loop at a Jimmy Buffett Restaurant in Honolulu one time. The restaurant was loud and raucous and the food was definitely meh. I don't know if his chain is still in operation but it was only great for bar flies, I think.

    2. I had lunch in the one the Margaritaville at Universal Orlando 13-14 months ago, the place was fun, the food was only slightly better than McD's.

I don't do it very often , but there's something rather naughty and satisfying in it
