Flowers

I swear I could do a blog of nothing but close up photos of flowers.  I get into a garden and start taking pictures like this and the next thing I know there are 40 or 50 images.  I love the colors, the graceful shapes.  I lost interest in gardening long ago, but I love the work of others.

We keep fresh flowers in the house nearly all of the time.

When was the last time you had fresh flowers at home?

  1. valentine's day. I have to be careful with indoor flowers as I am allergic to strong scents (e.g., hyacinths are not allowed, carnations are). and then I worry about the cats eating the flowers.

  4. I understand what you mean. I have more flower photos than I can possibly share. We haven't had cut flowers in the house since Dudo and Moose. I'm afraid a water-filled vase would end up on its side because the cats would be too curious. Everything new must be inspected. Of course, they're not allowed on the tables and therefore NEVER go, so I don't know WHY I think it would be a problem.

    2. I sometimes use a 2-gallon pickle crock as. a vase, it would take both of them to turn that on it's side, but they are cats - always up for a challenge.

    3. I'll have to buy a 2-gallon pickle crock and put it to the test.

    4. I have friends with three cats. They always weight the vases down with weights...like rocks or heavy base pebbles. The cats have yet knocked it over. They sniff but then been the extent.

  5. I love flowers! That is one of the reasons I love Hawaii so much. All of the vivid colors that I couldn't capture with my camera. Balder Half brings me flowers about every two to three months. Carnations. I love carnations! They last so long in a vase. Hmm, I think I'm getting spring fever, finally. At least I hope that's the kind of fever I'm getting :)
