The Way We Were Wednesday
This was about 16 - 17 years ago, the first time Travel and I met Stephen and Duncan. This was the infamous mushy peas lunch. The English and Irish serve mashed green peas, there are variations with some containing mashed potatoes, some with mint, others with just peas. It was the first time we have come across this. Jay ordered them, and then commented on the flavor that they retained the essential peaness. Say that fast, and see if you snicker?
hi lil penguin buddy! (and sweet bear, of course). and I don't like peas (texture).
Great youtube clip; I love cantankerous old men.Delete
I love peaness!ReplyDelete
In more ways than oneDelete
don't we ALL love peaness! :)Delete
good day for a laughDelete
If they actually DID retain the essential “peaness” (priceless), I might like them better. As it is, they're right up there (or down there) with baked beans and pickled beets!ReplyDelete
You don't like baked beans? Let me cook for you, and we will give that another try.Delete
Don't even suggest that. I have given them so many tries over the years. When we lived in Guilford, our little gourmet market made "the best baked beans in the world." Every one of our friends and neighbors said so. SG agreed. He told me that if I tried them and didn't like them, he would never ask me to try baked beans again. I tried them. I hated them. And I was done trying. So, no thanks.
Maybe a Sunday five question, what food do you detest that others think is just fine. For me broccoliDelete
Yes! Baked beans. Pickled beets. Mushy peas!Delete
ooooooooooh, YES to the sunday 5! I cannot abide most veggies, although I do like baked beans and raw carrots. and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. and sweet tater fries.Delete
I have to admit there are some peanesses worthy of more then just a snicker ... I have met more then one in my younger days! LOLReplyDelete
Detested stuff: cilantro! Gag ... yuck ... patooey!
I hope it made people laughDelete
Gawd, I hate mushy peas.ReplyDelete
not a big fan either.Delete
I hate cooked mushrooms, squash, cooked red peppers--it's the texture. Weirdly, I love raw apples, smooth applesauce, and despise cooked apples such as in an apple pie. Again, it's the texture.ReplyDelete
I will eat almost anything, at least once.Delete
Peas mixed with mashed potatoes, my favorite. Mixed with rice, a close second. Straight up peaness is good from time to time.ReplyDelete
Whoa. It's been a minute, no?ReplyDelete
Love the little penguin. And I just cannot deal with green peas. I don't want to think about them mashed. Nope.
Added some to the chicken soup I made tonightDelete
I was so young and beautiful then...ReplyDelete
You still are dearDelete
