Where am I? London
What am I doing there? Sightseeing and having dinner with dear Friends.
What do we plan to see? The Museum of Natural History, and Greenwich.
Why those two? The Museum building is a masterpiece of brick architecture and I have not seen it. One of my grandmother's was born in Greenwich, while her father was working on tunnels. From reading her birth certificate, he was digging tunnels for the sewage works. I want to go see the neighborhood she was born in.
Where to next? Scotland, for the first time.
The Museum of Natural History is quite a building; in itself it's a piece of art and history.
ReplyDeleteIt was great.
DeleteI heard you been getting around.
ReplyDeleteNot as much as you do.
DeleteI loved the museum. We stayed a block away. The trip to Greenwich should be fascinating. Can’t wait to hear what you discover. Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteIt is not far here, from where you are.
DeleteSounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCome play!
DeleteI think there is a Holiday Inn Express somewhere near there. I haven't stayed there but I've checked it out as a possible place to stay.
ReplyDeleteThe Natural History Museum is truly a gem of a building. I hope you are enjoying it. Say hello to Charles Darwin while you are there.
Took pictures of Charles, back in 2012 we stayed in a Holiday Inn near the V&A.
DeleteGlad your travels are going so well!
ReplyDeleteSo far everything has worked as expected.
DeleteHow exciting to find your grandmother's home and see the neighborhood where she grew up. Getting on the train to London sounds like an adventure in itself. Enjoy every minute.
ReplyDeleteYou could set your watch by the train in Belgium, but the signs don't use the train numbers printed on the tickets, and the designation is the end of the run for that train, most often not the station you are getting off at. You have to search for the intermediate stops to guess is you are on the right train.
DeleteArrrrghhhh, Scotland nae? Be surrrrrre you talk lak a local, me frien'. Scotland is tryin' to free itself from British rule. So watch yer sass, Amurican!
ReplyDeleteI take no sides on that one. I do refer to northern Ireland as occupied Ireland.
