The Sunday Five: Idleness

1: When was the last time you spent a day, doing nothing?

2: What was the last museum you wandered through?

3: When was your last afternoon nap, planned or unplanned?

4: What are you reading, just because you want to read it?

5: How do you feel about wasting time?

My answers:

1: When was the last time you spent a day, doing nothing? It has probably been a month ago, a Saturday when I felt like doing nothing and tried to do even a little less than that.

2: What was the last museum you wandered through? The Hirshorn, a wonderful building and an interesting collection of modern American art.

3: When was your last afternoon nap, planned or unplanned? Yesterday, I felt the urge and turned off YouTube for 40 minutes or so.

4: What are you reading, just because you want to read it? A book about spices.

5: How do you feel about wasting time?  There is no such thing, idle time is time our minds need.

  1. When was the last time you spent a day, doing nothing? Doing nothing? I like to think of it as being on Energy Saver mode.

What was the last museum you wandered through? Barbados Museum & Historical Society

When was your last afternoon nap, planned or unplanned? Probably a few weeks ago.

What are you reading, just because you want to read it? An auto bio on Hollywood Lawn.

  2. 1. Unless doing nothing is defined, I would say never.
    2. It has been so long since I've been in a museum, I can't remember the last one.
    3. I don't nap in the afternoon. I sleep better at night without a nap.
    4. An English murder mystery, but I haven't picked it up for a while, so perhaps it is not grabbing me. I have a book on my Kindle that I am looking forward to reading.
    5. I don't think I intentionally ever waste time. With hindsight at times, I can say, that was a waste of time.

  4. 1. It probably was last summer on vacation where I had nothing to do. By choice.
    2. Cleveland Museum of Art. World renowned.
    3. Yesterday. I'm not sure I slept much, but I laid in bed.
    4. Right now the 'Lincoln Highway'.
    5. Depends on the situation I would expect.

  5. 1. It depends what you mean by "nothing." Unless you're in a catatonic state, you're always doing "something."
    2. I went to a local small art gallery about a month ago to take in their members' show.
    3. I used to nap quite regularly in late afternoon, but now I drink a cup of coffee instead.
    4. I'm in the midst of reading what's called an #mpreg fanfic. That's where certain gay male characters can get pregnant and give birth. Captain America just woke up from the Arctic ice 3 months ago and discovered he's 4 months pregnant. Bucky is the Baby Daddy but he's dead now. Or is he? Cue the Winter Soldier. They're both in for a big shock.
    5. We all need to waste time creatively and productively, LOL!

  6. 1: When was the last time you spent a day, doing nothing? I don't think of it as nothing. A cold cold Saturday before Christmas, I made a pot of Wassail and read a book all day.
2: What was the last museum you wandered through? We had visitors passing through and took them to the Camden Archives and Museum. There is quite a bit of history in our little town.
3: When was your last afternoon nap, planned or unplanned? I don't usually nap, but Carlos did give me a nasty cold for Christmas, so I did pass out in an easy chair for a couple of hours!
4: What are you reading, just because you want to read it? Last week I picked Openly Bob from our office bookshelf. It's stories for out comedian Bob Smith and it's quite funny.
5: How do you feel about wasting time? I don't have a problem with it; sometimes time needs to be wasted.
