Brugge is a city of canals, and history. Buildings that are 300 years old, are not really considered old, in a city that has been passing over the same bridge for 500 years.
Travel expands our understanding of the world. At Southampton there were thousands of cars, and hundreds of excavators awaiting export. In Zeebrugge, there were hundreds of new GM SUVs and full size pickup trucks parked on the pier. We live in a global economy. Any idiot who opens their eyes can see that. Well not every idiot.
"You better - lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go (go)
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime"
Who would ever imagine that I would be quoting Eminem, but there it is. Sometimes you do get more than one shot, but if you never take it, if you never give it your all, you will blow it. It will pass you by.
"Carpe Diem. Seize the day, boys.
Make your lives extraordinary."
Probably more my style, though only in my dreams was ever able to capture a class like Robin Dead Poets Society.
The same message in a different wrapping, don't let life pass us by. Take the chance, do the thing others only dream of doing, and quietly let pass them by.
