My World of Wonders aka the Wednesday Ws Where, What and Why

We are staying a couple of blocks south of London Waterloo Station, a nice predictable Hampton Inn. This is the view into a very working class London neighborhood. It is unseasonably warm, the room has air conditioning. My accomplishment of the day yesterday, was getting us on the right trains with the announcements in Flemish.  Premiere class on the Eurostar was nice, they served a nice lunch and drinks at our seats.

Where am I? London

What am I doing there? Sightseeing and having dinner with dear Friends.

What do we plan to see?  The Museum of Natural History, and Greenwich.

Why those two? The Museum building is a masterpiece of brick architecture and I have not seen it. One of my grandmother's was born in Greenwich, while her father was working on tunnels. From reading her birth certificate, he was digging tunnels for the sewage works. I want to go see the neighborhood she was born in.

Where to next? Scotland, for the first time.

Travel Tuesday: Mt Vernon last October

We have finished a couple of great days in Brugge, today we move onto London, where the weather forecast is near 80 (f) in the next couple of days.  Brugge has lots of history and churches.  As always a block off the beaten path and it is the quiet place that real people live.

Monday Moods: Lose Yourself

Brugge is a city of canals, and history. Buildings that are 300 years old, are not really considered old, in a city that has been passing over the same bridge for 500 years.
Travel expands our understanding of the world.  At Southampton there were thousands of cars, and hundreds of excavators awaiting export.  In Zeebrugge, there were hundreds of new GM SUVs and full size pickup trucks parked on the pier.  We live in a global economy. Any idiot who opens their eyes can see that.  Well not every idiot.

"You better - lose yourself in the music, the moment

You own it, you better never let it go (go)

You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow

This opportunity comes once in a lifetime"

Who would ever imagine that I would be quoting Eminem, but there it is.  Sometimes you do get more than one shot, but if you never take it, if you never give it your all, you will blow it. It will pass you by.

"Carpe Diem. Seize the day, boys.

                     Make your lives extraordinary."

Probably more my style, though only in my dreams was ever able to capture a class like Robin Dead Poets Society

The same message in a different wrapping, don't let life pass us by. Take the chance, do the thing others only dream of doing, and quietly let pass them by.
