The Sunday Five: Inanimate Pets

1: How many stuffed animals do you have?

2: Do you give them names?

3: Do you have any from childhood?

4: When was the last time you gave one as a gift?

5: Do you have a favorite stuffed animal?

My Answers:

1: How many stuffed animals do you have? Dozens of them, I'd need to hire a census taker to count them.

2: Do you give them names? Most of them.

3: Do you have any from childhood? No longer.

4: When was the last time you gave one as a gift? Probably the Highland Cow to my great-nephew.

5: Do you have a favorite stuffed animal? An over-sized very fluffy sheep.

Please share your answers in the comments.

I am on a digital detox. This post was written ahead of time and scheduled to appear today. I have not missed posting at least once per day in over a decade. While on this detox, I will not have internet access many days, when I do have access it will be limited. Please continue to leave comments, but I may not reply to comments. I will read comments when I can. Normal service will resume in few days.

Do you give them names? Snoppy and Woodstock and an Elephant I picked up in Nairobi.

Do you have any from childhood? I don't think so.

  2. I was worried about this post until I realised you didn't mean real stuffed animals but fluffy toys!
1: How many stuffed animals do you have?
Currently only one. I gave most of them away a few years ago and I don't miss them. Unless the rag doll that my mum gave me for my 40th birthday counts.
2: Do you give them names?
    Ted and Doll.
3: Do you have any from childhood?
No but Ted is actually my OH's old teddy bear from when he was a little boy. We both keep him safe. (From cat and dog.)
4: When was the last time you gave one as a gift?
Does the collection of dog and cat toys count? In which case, last Christmas.
5: Do you have a favorite stuffed animal?
Doll. I miss my mum every day and it reminds me of when she was still with us.

  7. 1. I have 4 small stuffed creatures and 1 larger one -- a maneki-neko cat from Japan, a small knitted cat from a blogging buddy ("Knitty Kitty"), a kawaii mushroom from my sister that says "I don't give a shittake," a Florida Panthers voodoo doll from a blogging buddy, and a larger old teddy bear ("Teddy") from my childhood.
    2. I rarely name such things any more, although I did with my childhood toys.
    3. I only have one from childhood, the aforementioned "Teddy." It is in a storage box. It survived so many decades as a keepsake simply because it didn't get played with too much when I was small. The stuffed animals that were played with all went to rags years ago.
    4. The last time I gave one as a gift was to my sister maybe 5 years ago. It was a cute pug dog wearing a hoodie. I couldn't resist it. My sister probably wishes I had.
    5. My favourite is probably "Teddy" simply for old time's sake.

  9. 1: How many stuffed animals do you have? One. The panda bear I had as a baby.
2: Do you give them names? I gave him a very outlandish, original name - Panda.
3: Do you have any from childhood? See what is written above.
4: When was the last time you gave one as a gift? In April, I gave my youngest granddaughter a stuffed hamster I had spotted in a charity shop.
5: Do you have a favorite stuffed animal? Yes, of course, Panda!

  10. 1. 2 in my room, a bunch more in what we call the kid's room (where my grandkids sleep over).
    2. Just 1
    3. Beary is my teddy bear from childhood. He would be 73 years old now - almost as old as me!
    4. My grandson wanted to take home a cute little Easter bunny decoration I had so I said sure!
    5. Yes, Beary!

  11. Sitting on my dresser is my teddy bear from my youth. I found it when closing up my parent's house. I almost went into sentimental hysterics. Teddy sits there; I see him daily. I want to be cremated with him.

  12. Oh man! I am so late to the game, but I still wanna play

1: How many stuffed animals do you have?

HAHAHA! I probably still have 100+. I had twice as many up until a few months ago when I gave half of them away. Keep in mind, I have a husband and a bf that indulge my passions.

2: Do you give them names?

I have a handful of giraffes that have names that stuck. But the majority of them don’t have names because there’s no way I could keep up with that. My other plush friends are various superhero related ones (Krypto, Ace the Bat Hound, Chip, etc.) or Christmas ones (Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore, etc.) so they come with their own name.

3: Do you have any from childhood?

Sadly, no. But I distinctly remember three of my favorites from my child: A small panda teddy bear that played music, an elephant with a homemade nose and ears that someone attached to him and a llama with purple eye eyelids, and huge eye lashes. I honestly have no idea what happened to them.

4: When was the last time you gave one as a gift?

Hmmm. Probably within the last year. Stuffed animals are still my favorite way to let my friends know I care about them. I think the last one I gave to a friend was a glittery rainbow giraffe, which he named Princess Percocet.

5: Do you have a favorite stuffed animal?

That’s a tough one. I have a couple of favorite giraffes. One is named Morpheus because he was a gift from Jeffrey and I got him while I was on morphine and very happy. Another is named Abacus because that’s the store I got him in. Another is name Sassy (because that’s the name on his tummy) and I think you can imagine why that that’s one of my favorites. As we downsize these three and a handful of others will stay with us. The rest, I hope to gift to other people as a sign of my affection.
