Monday Moods: Fitting All of the Pieces Together

I wrote this a week ago, in a hotel at CDG Airport in Paris, our flight home was the next morning. There is always a sense of relief for me, when we reach this point, and everything worked, everything fit together. This trip involved five airline flights on three different airlines, one cruise, six hotels, one advance purchase train, two purchase just before boarding trains, two mass transit systems, and advance tickets for multiple museums and sites. Everything was on the right day, nothing was missing.  We planned it all, I booked all of the travel and hotels. Sweet Bear booked the attractions and passes for the Vienna transit system. It tests our organizational ability, and it is always a relief when it all works.

Maybe it proves that we can still do it, despite being older than dirt. It is nice to have it work.

It was a lot of travel. We saw things and had experiences we have long wanted to do. Several bucket list items were checked off the list. I have something in the neighborhood of 5,000 photographs, that will feed the blog for a long time.  Don't worry, I won't post all of them. The images and experiences will inspire relevant essays and rants over the coming year or so.

At the moment, I am glad, relieved that everything within our control, we did right.  Have I ever messed up? Oh you bet, hotel reservations on the wrong day, train tickets on the wrong day, failed to book advance admission to impossible to get into attractions, booked an airport hotel that was three miles away from the airport with limited taxi service, yup, I have done all of that. And when it happens, I smile, say Poo happens, make other arrangements and go. Never let fear that something might go wrong, stand in the way of going and doing. Most of what we fear, either already has happened, or never will happen.

My mood this Monday, is content that it all worked. Wondering what the next adventure will be.
