Where is Home? In the photo, if you follow the expressways on the left, out across the water, there is a group of tall buildings on the horizon, one of those buildings is home.
Where have I been this week? Not far from home. Mt Vernon, Potomac Yard, across the river to Maryland, the gym, the mall for a walk, shopping and lunch out.
Who have I talked with? My sweet bear, and not much of anyone.
Who have I traded emails with? Spo, and Sharon, making plans for next winter.
When am I going someplace? Late January early February to a conference and board meeting in Phoenix- connected to above.
Who have I reached out to? My oldest brother, I am sending a birthday card and a nice two page letter. Time will tell if I ever hear back from him.
What have I been listening to? An annual CLE law update 7.75 hours of recorded lectures. One interesting point, learning about generative artificial intelligence is today what learning to use a computer was 40 years ago for lawyers, learn it, or you will be left behind.
What am I painting? A representation of the old farm house from the farm I grew up on.
What have I been reading? I finished "Reader Come Home" about the neuroscience of reading and how reading print and electronic media differ. I am working on Essays Sunshine State, For You When I am Gone, and Washington's Rules of Civility. All of these are good reads, none of them are books I would urge you to read. Reader Come Home, could have been about 100 pages shorter and left out the authors lament that modern readers don't read and quote Jane Austen and Emily Dickinson, and modern writers write in a much more concise style that is easier to understand.
What am I thinking about changing on the Blog? The Friday feature of tips to improve your travel experience - is not always a good draw - and is hard to come up with ideas for. It may end up being 35 tips instead of 100.
What am I grateful for this week? The cough that I brought home from New York, in October, seems to be going away.
What made me go Huhh! this week? The election outcome - I need say no more.
I hate those long-lasting coughs. Glad yours seems to be going away. Great photo at the start. Yesterday was kind of an exhausting day. I will write soon!
ReplyDeleteThe top photo is from MGM across the river.
DeleteI haven't stepped into the AI world yet. I want to use my brain as much as possible instead of a computer thinking for me. This correlates with the book you read about how your brain works when reading a print (hard copy) book vs. electronic media. I probably sound like an old fuddy duddy. As you said, AI is now a tool to be used, it's not going away so get with the times. On another note, can't wait to see your painting of the farmhouse.
ReplyDeleteWith AI you really have to fact check, and verify.
DeleteAh yes, the election outcome. I am growing weary of Democrats laying blame on Biden for not dropping out sooner, or Kamala for not focusing more on the economy. I saw some Blue politician on the news this morning doing exactly that. I wondered where the hell was he during the campaign? Why didn't he step forward and offer some solutions rather than play Monday Morning Quarterback.
ReplyDeleteDeep breath ... that said, another Blue politician to watch is Andy Beshear the Democrat governor of totally red Kentucky. He's got some things to say adna re worth listening to.
Andy (I knew his father) is a potential for 2028.
DeleteI hope you'll post a photo of your old farm house painting when it's done, if it turns out to your satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I am not happy with it, but it is not done.
DeleteGreat photo at the top. I've been saying "huhh" a lot this last week. I look forward to seeing you in few weeks.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon,
DeleteYou get out and about a lot! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThe more news I hear about the next administration the more worried I get. I'm trying to stay calm but it is difficult. I will carry on and I will speak up when I hear their lies and misinformation. Just like your reply about fact checking and verifying content - we have to do that more than ever now.
I read a news story this morning about political appointments, and had to take a two hour walk to calm down.
