My Answers:
1: Tell us about your latest Selfie? I post one everyday, I have been for about 18 months.
2: When was the last time someone asked you for a short biography, or introduction? Probably nine months ago, when I was presenting on a webinar.
3: Tell us about the last time you updated your resume or CV? When I retired from full time employment.
4: What would we be most surprised to read on your resume or CV? I am a member of the Institute of Residential Marketing of the National Association of Home Builders.
5: How many employers are listed on your resume or CV? Only two; everything before my midlife career change is lumped into, before law school I did sales and marketing for home builders. There were five different builders, I worked for two of them twice, over 15 years, it is complicated and irrelevant.

2. The last time I was asked for a short bio or introduction was probably about 9 years ago. That's about the last time I was making the rounds with a public presentation before retiring 8 years ago.
3. I last updated my resume 25 years ago, right before applying for the final job I had where I spent the last 17 years of my career.
4. I don't think there was anything too surprising on my resume. It was laser-focused on my relevant education and experience only.
5. When last updated, there would have been 5 employers listed on my resume. With the final job I got, the total was 6 employers over my legal career. Other irrelevant part-time jobs while a student were omitted, of course.

DeleteI don't take selfies as I don't like photos of myself.
ReplyDeleteI am retired and don't have a resume anymore.
Maybe I take a daily selfie because I don't like photos of myself. It is journey to learn to love myself. I am thinking I should write about the retirement resume, what I do, and what I can do, maybe what I will never do again.

Delete1: Tell us about your latest Selfie? Last April, documenting a new cap (Le Canada N'est pas a vendre).
ReplyDelete2: When was the last time someone asked you for a short biography, or introduction? Can't remember. Most folks look things up on LinkedIn. Some things are best left in the mists of time.
3: Tell us about the last time you updated your resume or CV? Probably about 5 years ago when I had an opportunity for an internal promotion.
4: What would we be most surprised to read on your resume or CV? I tailor the resume to the position. Anything that is irrelevant is a distraction, will confuse the interviewer, and will work against you (i.e. if the position doesn't require my professional license, I don't list the license - talk about the experience and the rest can be filled in the course of the conversation).
5: How many employers are listed on your resume or CV? I only list substantial experiences after licensure so two - one is a local government (two different agencies), and the second is state government (two different departments one of those at two separate districts with different responsibilities).

When I was screening resumes and interviewing, every once in a while something weird would stand out and I would think, I need to meet this person. Like the guy who trained as a helicopter pilot before going to law school. The person who had published a cookbook.
