Monday Mood: Happy

We are home, safe and reasonably sound. All of the travel worked.  All in All, we really enjoyed the trip.

It was a long adventure, long enough to truly disconnect from the day to day.  We saw lots and lots of things, and met many many people.

All of the planning and organizing, worked. I spent months working out the details, booking hotels, buying train tickets, double checking the schedule. I am always happy and relieved when the plan works as planned.

We are getting better at saying, let's take it easy today. I am getting better at hailing a taxi, when we start to get weary.

There are a few things on the to do list at home. I need to get a working phone, mine died the first day on the ship.  Buy some groceries, go online and pay a couple of credit cards (and I need a working phone to do this, so the phone comes first.) I look forward to cooking again. Travel often inspires me to be creative in the kitchen.  There is an Arts council meeting in a couple of days, and a new gallery show that opened last weekend that I want to see.  And back to the pool.  I haven't swam since we left the ship over two weeks ago.  I have walked, and walked, and walked.  I will keep walking, if I stop the fatter man will catch up with me.

I know it will take a few days to adjust to the change in time zone, and the travel day home is a long one - a little rest will is needed.

I am happy that we are able to do this.  Physically we can still move.  Mentally we are able to find our way. Financially - it is paid for. I always worry that we have spent too much - but I am reminded that we can't take it with us - and we have spent 50 years saving so we can enjoy these post work years.

    1. Thank you, now that I am home, I can share the avalanche or photos. Something like 4,200 to download sometime today.

  2. Spend, spend. You can't take it with you. The fear of running out is unfounded. I'm glad everything worked out well. You always leave home with some self doubt that you have something wrong.

I am curious why you can't pay bills using a desktop or laptop computer, although it is easier to use your phone?

    1. Multi Part Authentication, when I log in on a couple of the websites, they send me a code that I have to enter to access the system. The codes are sent by text to my phone.

  4. You are SO right to travel while you can. When I was young, I couldn't travel because I had no money. When I was working and establishing my career, I didn't travel because I didn't have the time. Thankfully, in my 50s I had the money and made some time, and went on some fab bucket-list trips. Now in retirement, I have the time and the money, but cannot physically do all the walking needed for travel any more. I'm living vicariously through your trips now, LOL.

    1. I am not sure how many more of these we can do comfortably, but in the mean time, there is Vienna to go to.

  5. You have good sensibilities when it comes to travel; you don't rush like mad to see EVERYTHING , and you take some easy days when you feel like it.
And then you have a decompression day when you arrive home.
    Welcome back!

    1. Another 20 minutes or so and the photos will all be downloaded. Last year, my memory card filled up, I bought a new larger one, this one held a months worth of adventures.

  11. It is always a relief and indeed a pleasure when you plan a trip and everything pretty much works out. Glad that you and the other fellow are home safe and sound. I prayed to God that you would get good spring weather here on the island of Britain and he clearly listened to my plea. Thank you God!
